The following week, I had the psych and nutrition evals. I got my approval letter on October 24, 2002--just short of 3 months. I hope you get yours quicker. I was really impatient about getting that letter, but I was in tears when it finally came. Best of luck on getting your letter sooner. Guest guest Posted September 20, 2004 Report Share Posted September 20, 2004 Hi Heidi, if I remember correctly, I saw my PCP in January 03 to start the referral process and I received my approval letter in June/July 03 – so about 6 months after starting the process with my PCP. I then had my appts with psych, surgeon and internist. I opted for lap surgery, which had a longer waiting list. My original surgery was scheduled for March 04 (so it would’ve been 14 months from first starting the process), but I came down with strep throat a couple days before I was supposed to have surgery, so it got postponed to May. So, when all was said & done, the whole process took me about 16 months start to finish. My surgery was through Pacific Bariatric in San Diego. If my memory serves me right, it only took a couple of weeks for me to get my approval letter - but I think that things might be moving a bit slower these days since they seem much busier.
