This is an update of the message I sent at 4:42 a.m. today. I just spoke with my doctor. He says anything would be a guess until he sees new labs, so he's ordering thyroids and, at my request, RBC potassium and electrolytes. I remembered many group members having problems with potassium, so I read about aldosterone at STTM. My symptoms fit low potassium, i.e. high bp and weakness. My labs will be done tomorrow. Below is a description of what happened in the wee hours of this morning:

I awoke at 3:30 a.m. feeling extremely weak and weird. My bp was 199/91 with a pulse of 91. I've been experiencing spells of strange weakness since Thursday. Each time I was able to feel better by taking a sublingual dose of 5 mcg T3. But this is the first time I've awoken in the middle of the night with this problem, and the first time I've had a bp/pulse anything like this. And this time a dose of T3 didn't help. In fact, it's now hours later, I've had 3 doses of T3 at 4 hours apart, and I still feel very weak, though my bp is stable at about 140/60, pulse 65.

I wanted to get some input about this. Does it sound like an aldosterone/potassium issue? Or perhaps RT3 has suddenly cleared and it's time to go on regular thyroid meds? I've been on T3 since January 22. After a month on T3, my ratio improved from 4.3 to 15.6, but it stills seems soon for it to have cleared completely. Thanks so much for any thoughts.

Peggy
