What exactly is a sitz bath?

Forgive my ignorance, but I just don't know exactly what a sitz bath IS! Is it a

special kind

of tub to soak in?

Also, I've read that soaking in sea salt can be really healing to the skin. Does

anyone have

experience with this? What is the ph of sea salt?
