Dear Alyssa, Marilyn and folks on List,Am so glad this topic emerged.  I was going to write about my Smoothie Summer, but was awaiting for warm weather.  Silly.  When I read posts here, I see how much pain and discomfort many folks have, and appreciate that mine is not worse, and have been curious about it-- not that I think there are clear answers to such questions.  Anyway, this thread revealed a possible answer.  One Summer, a few years ago, I pretty much did smoothies all summer.  I guess my gut stuff had just started to be symptomatic.  And I mashed an froze lots of over-ripe bananas.  Would mix them in blender--we have ordinary old blender, not VitaMix or anything like that, so if you have a blender, or access to one, you might want to try using what you have/can borrow, blenders still being pretty affordable.  I was way pre-SCD, tho sugar and gluten free,  so was using sugar free lemonade as base.  That, frozen banana and whatever else was around.  Last year I made some using herbal teas picked at the farm of my friend who picks and sells tea.  A miz including rose hips, horsetail, and mints perhaps.  Would make a strongish batch of tea, and when cold, use that in smoothies.  I confess, I'd liked the lemonade better.  Maybe I'll make some w honey, tho I cannot do too much sweets.  Anyway, Marilyn's point is what I found.  It gave my poor tired gut a real rest and healing time.  We live in the Northeast, and with the colder weather, I fell out of doing smoothies.  Had I stayed with drinking more meals--soups in cool weather-- I likely would have a happier digestive system now.  So, am saying nothing new!  Except smoothies are yum, kids like them, and did give my gut time to heal.  Wishing you all the best,Ruth Ruth J.
