Guest guest
In the spirit of sharing our experiences, I thought I'd update this group on my progress. I've been on the SCD 4+ years, making my fair share of mistakes along the way. After 2-1/2 years, my Crohn's symptoms stopped. Combining that fact with a SED rate of 2, I thought I was in remission. I recently had a colonoscopy, my first since before the SCD, and the biopsy came back as " active Crohn's " . So clinically speaking, I am asymptomatic, not in remission as I had thought. My quality of life is great however. I wasn't on meds before the diet and I've elected to remain so, even though my GI advises otherwise. I've written more extensively about this on my blog, so if you want more detail give it a click. I'm going to continue with the SCD, but I'll introduce an illegal to see what happens. I figure my body will tell me pretty fast what it thinks. Guest guest
Hi I'll be very interested to see how you do after introducing an illegal. I've had UC for almost 5 years. This is my 3rd attemp at the SCD. I've been on it VERY strictly for about 14 months. The last 6 months have been the absolute worst in my life. I can't tell you how many times I've gone back to the intro and Stage 1 foods with no progress at all - I've actually gotten worse. I'm now pretty much completely housebound, 12-25 watery, bloody diarrhea every day, very weak, extreme weight loss and excruciating abdominal pain. I was so weak the other day I decided to have a piece of whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter and tea (my old comfort food when I was sick) I felt better. My stools were actually not as runny the next day. Go figure. I also started LDN and it got rid of the pain in 3 days. If I didn't I know I'd be in the ER by now. Still lots of symptoms but I am totally discouraged by the SCD now. My syptoms were bad before but nothing like they are now. Let me know how you do.
