Guest guest
Thank you. I am sitting here trying to figure out how to get to sleep. I was in bed for an hour and still up. I forgot I had some ambian around that my sleep doctor prescribed. Nite nite, I hope. Les ----------------------- Yes, Ambien is what they gave me when I went to the sleep lab for my study and yes, it worked like a charm. -- otherwise they would have seen me tossing and turning all night and I never would've gotten to sleep at all so they could study me! But...yes, we don't want to take it every night. (Well, we do, actually...) Vicki

Guest guest
If anyone has tried just about everything and still can't get to sleep, our local library has a homemade tape on " How to build a stone wall. " I can guarantee that would put you to sleep. The guy drones on and one with no intonation whatsoever, giving riviting facts like, " Now, this is a hammer. " I've always found droning voices put me to sleep. I used to use the news. Perhaps some books on tape on really dull subjects would work. The trick is to put the volume low enough so you can just barely hear it, so it won't wake you after you fall asleep. Maybe some of those Forest Noises or Ocean Noises would do the same My uncle once sent me a book called " The History of the Quakers " or something like that and said it was a good insomnia cure. So far I haven't tried it. Gretchen

Guest guest
Now that reminds me, I used to have a tape about thinking yourself better day by day (can't remember the name of it drat) & that thing would put me to sleep within 10 min. I never got to hear what the speaker said actually. Guest guest
Occasionally, say once every two months, my sleep is not as restful as I'd like. I put it down to being involved in too many projects at the same time. If this happens, I can virtually guarantee a deep restful sleep by taking one 1 mg Melatonin tablet just before going to bed. I awake refreshed and ready for more multitasking. I call it resetting my biological clock. This is definitely a YMMV thing. The same treatment helps my wife not one iota . . . not only that, it has negligible effect <G>

Guest guest
Years ago I spent time in the psychiatric ward at Duke to learn biofeedback to hopefully conquer migraines. You had to be in the psychiatric ward in order to do this, and that was quite an experience, to say the least. Anyway, it didn't work for my migraines. But they gave us a tape to play at home to achieve the same thing they had tried to teach us there. I wonder where that tape is, if it still in my possession. That might work to relax me. One thing that I tried last night, which seemed to work, in order to focus on something was to go down the alphabet and think of a relative whose name starts with each letter. It's kind of hard when you get to the Q or X, but my mother was a Z, LOL. You could do the same thing with animals or movie stars or whatever. I went to girl scout camp, and I'll have to call my sister in law to find out what it was called - she's got a better memory than I do - but I wouldn't be surprised at another no degrees of separation coincidence.
