Guest guest
only the approved safe tom juices - and the pumpkin people will say it's GF but refused to give up trade secrets- - they're adding something less than 2% so they don't have to list it, is my guess eileen -- In BTVC-SCD , Flaherty wrote: > > canned tomato juice is, but not canned pumpkin? > K > > > > > > Subject: Re: gas/brain > To: BTVC-SCD > Date: Sunday, May 3, 2009, 4:23 PM > > > > > > > > > > Have you been tested for epilepsy, tried any anti-epileptic drugs, or been tested for migraines? Have you tried supplementing with magnesium (as magnesium malate, NOT oxide)? Try 1250 mg once a day, then twice a day, up to three times a day to see if it " sticks. However, from the description, I suspect (but have never tried) the ketogenic diet would be safe on the SCD. It's not just *specific* carbohydrates- it's almost NO carbohydrates. Were it not for how much of the calories come from hydrogenated soybean oil (and therefore loaded with trans fats), it'd probably be pretty healthy. A do-it-yourself version, while not recommended without a physician's oversight, would be something along the lines of Atkins + coconut oil + lots of medium chain triglycerides. > > That's Sunday's off-the-wall, stab-in-the- dark. > > -AJ > > > > > > ive asked this question over the last couple of years but wanted to > > put it out there again in case any new information has come to light > > > > the primary malady i have, at least the most debilitating symptom, is > > related to my brain. when there is gas or i am now realizing ANYTHING > > in certain parts of my intestines, my brain goes dead. i get tired, > > dizzy, tunnel vision. i lived in that state for 10 years thinking i > > had a sleep disorder until a course of flagyl and every once in a > > while on SCD i feel amazing. i've only felt healthy about 15 days in > > 10 years as a result of the aforementioned. sometimes the feeling > > passes once the gas or bm passes. sometimes i can feel the light in > > the room change as i am passing whatever. > > > > it's pretty much a nightmare. i've heard a few theories but no doctor > > really knows what the issue actually is yet. > > > > if anyone has any ideas, thoughts . . . or maybe even solutions! i > > would be be quite stoked to say the least. > > > > many thanks! > > > > spencer, nyc > > >
Guest guest
At 07:57 PM 5/3/2009, you wrote: just curious, why is canned tomato juice okay and canned tomatoes are not? Manufacturers want a consistent product. Tomatoes do not produce a consistent product because of variables in weather, soil content, and so forth. With tomato juice, they use salt to cover the variables. With other tomato products, they use sugar, or HFCS, or any number of illegals to cover inconsistencies. Hence, only tomato juice is legal. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
