Hi Nida,

Yes, why not consider a UAE? I am going to have one in May. May 6 to be

exact. My doctor said that he could not do a myo on mine becasue it was

located in a postition that made it difficult to see during surgery. He

suggested a UAE and I saw the Interventional Radiologist last week. It

doesn't sound any easier than surgery, but I need relief from the bleeding

and pain.

I can let you know how it goes if you would like that.

All the best,

,

I read your post and you said that UAE doesn't sound any easier than surgery.

Well, I've never had any real surgery other than D & C, but I did have the UAE

in Nov. and it was not too bad. I was under conscious sedation and that was

fine. I never really had pain over a 5 either in the hospital or at home. I

was tired and took it easy for about 5 or 6 days and even went out on day 4.

I am very glad I did it and I am sure for me it would have been easier than

surgery. My husband has had 2 abdominal major surgeries and he said they

were brutal. Just my thoughts. Good luck on your decision.

Hi Nida,

Yes, I am in the same boat as you, read my past posts! I have 5

fibroids and 1 ovarian cyst but no noticable symptoms apart from a

bulging belly. I've been monitoring my fibroids for the last 6 years

and followed the wait and watch approach since I was 44 when they

started growing. I'm now 50 but was resently diagnosed with the 5th

fibroid and the new ovarian cyst. What I'm going to try is balance

out my hormone levels with natural hormone 'troches', a sucking

tablet for rapid absorption. I've been using natural progesterone

cream on and off for the last 2 years but I need something stronger

because it has not brought my oestrogen levels down enough to stop

rapid growth of my fibroids. So I'm off to Sydney today to talk to

the compounding chemist about the contents of my troches. My

testosterone levels were low according to the last hormone test and

also DNEA which contain androgens. I've discussed all of this with my

GP who's on the same path as me. She's starting to use troches

herself for menopause symptoms which is great because it makes us

more equal and we can exchange experiences. I can see your dilemma

with your work situation and insurance. Can't really tell you what to

do. But I do urge you to get a blood test done to assess your hormone

levels to see how your oestrogen levels are and the rest. I'll keep

you posted on my findings. Don't panic, best wishes, Margo

Heleen,

UAE stands for uterine artery embolization. It is a procedure to embolize or

cut off the blood supply to the fibroids in the uterus. (That is a quick

explanation.).
