Guest guest
Hi everyone, here is my story. I am 27 years old and have been diagnosed with crohn's for about 7 years. I have been on every drug or this including humira, cimzia and remicade and none of them really help. I found this diet in August but did not start it the proper way, I just cut out all the illegal foods and I felt much better on it. Well life took over and I stopped the diet and since then have been having flareups that only go into remission with the use of steroids, I am now done with steroids. My husband doesn't want me on them and I don't blame him, I am mean. Well I have decided to go back to the SCD diet but doing it the right way. I ate cooked carrots, chicken and turkey and scrambled eggs today. I plan to eat the chicken soup and the same foods tomorrow. My question is when do I add other foods in and how long should I give it inbetween adding foods. I love black olives and really want to eat them, lol. I just can't seem to find how long to go inbetween new foods. One more question is how long to cook the veggies, I know the carrots take 4 hours but what about the zucchini and green beans, thank you
Guest guest
Im new too, but here is what I have learned. I think there is an order to starting new foods on pecanbread.com. You start with the beginner diet, then add peeled cooked fruits and veggies as tolerated, one at a time. Keep a food journal as it is trial and error. For instance carrots are beginner food but I always felt yukky if I ate too much of them- even years ago, and they just don't agree with me- so they are off my list. Just because a food is legal it does not mean you can easily eat it. When I first bought an SCD cookbook I though " YUM " I'm going to eat it all....but now I know it is one food at a time. I don't know how long to cook a food. When I first tried spinach, I cooked it forever, then blended it in the blender and then baked it into a soft paste. It was actually good that way. My own rule is to peel things and cook them for a long time. I am slowly building up a variety of foods. PJ > > Hi everyone, here is my story.
