Guest guest
Dear All I never knew this would be such a hot topic. My AV node is working fine and sending all the messages from my atria to the ventricles who are trying to cope with the number of impulses. The doctor who put in the pacemaker told me my AV node appears to be working fine. I understand the logic waiting for a cure for AFib and not damaging your AV node. I also understand the logic of trying to relieve the symptoms associated with AFib and that the pacemaker will take over the function of the AV node. What ever stance you take there its appears some logic for ablation and not for ablation that is reasonable. I guess in the long run it is your decision as this appears to be a very personal choice. You can only ask everyone for their reason for having it or not and then make your own decision. My problem is that it gives you another arrythmia (complete heart block). I already have AFib and I am trying to cope with it I do not want another arrythmia. I have nursed people in complete heart block and they are very sick. It also appears that you may get your AV node ablated and still suffer the symptoms of AFib. So in the long run what have you achieved. I only hope that I am not relying on the pacemaker to solve my problems. I think this is a good topic for people with AFib and I hope we continue to discuss it. My main reason is I would like to be very informed when the cardiologist (EP) brings it up again. Please keep your thoughts flowing.
