Guest guest
It sounds like the biopsy evaluation is not complete, since the immunofluorescence part of it has not yet been done. This is the test which determines how predominant the IgA immune complex deposits are in the mesangium, so, it's the hallmark of IgAN. No scarring is certainly a good sign. Guest guest
Esther, It's wonderful that they didn't see any scarring! Congrats on that!! I hope the final results show things in very early stages with no major problems....by the sounds of things to this point I'm hoping for more good news. :-) Amy G. Guest guest
Hi, Esther, Yes, the neph did mention those chemo drugs with worse side effects if this route does not help, but Iam just not sure he will be able to handle anymore side effects from the drugs, I don't think its worth it. I guess this has been the hardest part for me, because his disease came about overnight and a biopsy was done right away ending with poor results, his neph consantly told me how worried he was for him, and I litterally became speechless and never asked any questions I could only listen and try to digest everything he told us. I think I became more obsessed with trying to figure out how the heck he got this disease instead of trying to understand it and accept it. The other part I noticed is everyone has had a very slow diesease taking many years to get were they are now. I am so anxious to see his neph next week for I have so many questions, espcially what his GFR is now that I learned that from everyone. I have to say I am glad I found this group, its been a comfort and a blessing for me. Thanks for listening Esther, that felt good to get all this out. ps. there is a website called igansupport.org re:school daze (I am pretty sure this is it) let me know if I am wrong. Thanks again. Esther G wrote: Hi : I didn't know that. Actually, we used to homeschool . This is his first year back after a few years. He is starting to think going to this school is what caused his condition :-) I will ask his neph the same question when we see him. When we first saw the doctor and then the neph about this I understood that there was a chemo therapy type treatment (with all the drugs) or not treating it. It depended on the severity. Did he mention that to you? Esther PS: I admire your son for putting up with this. I really do. susan capo wrote: Hi Esther, I am so glad is doing well. The reason I asked about school is my neph told me that igan could cause lack of concentration and learning which he has to work hard to keep his grade levels up, as if we don't have enought stress... I have to say he has handled his condition pretty well up to now, he is getting fustrated with all the meds and its side effects and wants to come off them, I starting to think maybe not treating is better than going thru these side effects, well anyway, I'll be seeing his neph next week and I have lots of questions for him. I hope continues to do well. Thanks, Esther G wrote:Oh , I'm sorry to hear that. Poor . How is he handling this? How about you? As for , he is not fatigued and he is doing fine in school. Thanks for asking. Esther susan capo wrote: Hi Esther, actually, will going in the hospital again overnight for his iv tx on 2/10. which still isn't really helping his protein spill, I am hoping this next time it will make a difference and get those numbers down. He is doing ok. thanks for asking. How is doing with school and is he fatigued alot? Esther G wrote:Thank you , I hope so too. BTW, how is your son doing?
