Guest guest
EVA, Harold is one of the members of the group who copmiles a list of Canadian drug stores that send meds to the US and their prices. The store I used is no longer in service and I had to staer with another. I picked Buylow. I must admit their prices are good but the people are not as friendly. There are others who get meds from there. I have not completed my transaction with them yet. cooky Minocin for Treatment of RA What brand to get, and how much to pay. Information compiled by Harald Weiss 1. Brand Name Minocin or Generic Minocycline? In his excellent paper " Physicians' Protocol for Using Antibiotics in Rheumatic Disease, " found at http://www.mercola.com/2000/aug/27/Rheumatoid Arthritis.htm and written in August 2000, Dr. ph Mercola wrote: " Clinically it has been documented that it is important to take Lederle brand Minocin. Most all generic minocycline is clearly not as effective. A large percentage of patients will not respond at all or not do as well with generic non-Lederle minocycline. Traditionally, it was recommended to only receive the brand name Lederle Minocin. However, there is one generic brand that is acceptable, and that is the brand made by Lederle. The only difference between Lederle generic Minocin and brand name Minocin is the label and the price. The problem is finding the Lederle brand generic. Some of my patients have been able to find it at Wal Mart. Since Wal Mart is one of the largest drug chains in the US, this should make the treatment more widely available for a reduced charge. " 2. High-Cost Brand Name Minocin in the USA Pelleted Minocin was developed by Lederle Labs, which became ESI Lederle, which was acquired by Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, which then changed its name to simply Wyeth. Minocin by Lederle, ESI Lederle and Wyeth were all the same thing. Prior to September 2001, Lederle also sold its Minocin as a generic minocycline at a lower cost, which was $70.00 per hundred 100 mg capsules at Wal Mart. Regrettably, in September 2001, Lederle stopped selling its generic. In February 2006, Wyeth sold or licensed its Minocin brand name in the USA to Triax Pharmaceuticals. Triax then raised the USA list price to $1,020.80 for one hundred 100 mg capsules, or $10.21 per 100 mg capsule. The Triax Minocin is still being manufactured by Lederle / Wyeth, so it's the real thing. 3. Low-Cost Brand Name Minocin in Canada Sometime in 2005 or 2006, Wyeth also sold or licensed its Minocin product line to Stiefel Canada, Inc., which now continues to sell brand name Minocin. This Minocin is pelleted and appears to be identical to the original Lederle product, except for the labeling of the capsules. A brief survey of Canadian pharmacies on 3/3/08 found the following prices ranging from $1.36 to $2.02 per 100 mg capsule. Typically add $5 to $10 for shipping to the USA. Always phone the pharmacy first to verify that you will be receiving Minocin by Stiefel or by Wyeth-Ayerst. * $136.00 BuyLowDrugs.com <http://www.buylowdrugs.com/> (enter Minocin as the search term) * $140.27 CanDrugstore.com <http://www.candrugstore.com/searchSingleMed.asp?search=Minocin & cat= & subcat= & subsubcat= & sample= & nonpres=0 & schAlt=> * $146.77 Federal <http://www.federaldrugs.com/quote/drugslist.asp?psearch=minocin> Drugs. Simply phone them and inquire. 4. Low-Cost Brand Name Minocin MR in England Minocin MR is available in Great Britain also appears to be the real thing and can be purchased via mail order with a prescription. This Minocin is pelleted. The license for Minocin MR is held by Cyanamid of Great Britain Ltd, Fareham Road, Gosport, Hampshire, England. Minocin MR is manufactured by Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, New York, USA and Fareham Road, Gosport, Hants. As of 12/8/07, cost was a very reasonable £34 or $69.91 for 56 100-mg capsules, or $1.25 per 100 mg capsule. 5. Other Brand Names & International Availability * Cyclimycin (South-Africa) * Cynomycin (India, manufactured by Wyeth) * Minocin, Dynacin (US, Canada) * Klinomycin, Lederderm, Minoclir, Minogalen, Mino-Wolff, Minocyclin Stada (Germany) * Borymycin, Mero, Minoline (Taiwan) * Mynocine, Mestacine (France) * Mino-50, Minotab 50 (Belgium) * Minomycin (Australia, New-Zealand, Japan, South-Africa) It is not clear at this time which of these minocyclines, if any, are equivalent to brand name Minocin, how available they are, and at what price. More research is required. _____ From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of Eva Holloway Sent: Sunday, July 20, 2008 11:04 PM rheumatic Subject: RE: rheumatic Cooky/AP side effects Cookie, how do you do that?
