Sandy,

The short version, as if I ever did a short version, is this. The pain meds

for the sciatic pain caused constipation that created such pain in my belly

that I called my regular doctor and begged to be seen that day. I hadn't at

that point realized it was constipation. Two days in the ER and dealing

with all the other stuff had caused a great deal of brain fog. Well,

regular doctor decides I have a bladder infection. I told him I didn't but

without opening my file or even taking my temperature he gave me

perscriptions and rushed me out. That evening it hit me. I hadn't been to

the bathroom for a week and I have diverticulitis. Called the office next

morning. Nurse in a tizzy says don't take any more of those meds he gave

you yesterday. Blah, blah, blah. Back to ER. Hospital admission. Stomach

killing me. All the pain and swelling from the large intestine had caused

the small intestine to get pushed around and caused a blockage that wasn't

allowing anything to leave my stomach. Nothing showing up on two CT scans

and an MRI or four erays but doctor decided to go in and see what was

happening. I had no temperature or blood in the stool. She was baffled.

Once she did the surgery she found a pus bag on the diverticulum as expected

and about 10 to 12 inches of " dead " colin. At least that's the way I

understand. Can't ever really get straight answers. She did say if they

hadn't started draining my stomach when they did another little bit of

anything might have caused it to explodeand the farm would have been mine.

Don't know if that answers your question or not but it's the best I can do.

As for the doctor who thinks my bladder is infected, I haven't decided how

to handle him, So far I have been too angry to talk to him.

became rock hard in time and he was trying to pass it and got extremely ill

when his bowel tore. He is doing pretty good now, but is still struggling

with the constipation.
