Hello and WELCOME BACK! Thank you so much for sharing 'your experience'. Hopefully it will be helpful for someone as it was for you. What wonderful and rare type of news to hear around here. : )

A few questions if you don't mind...........?

* what forms of urticaria did/do you have?

* how were you able to disconue taking the high dosage of Atarax and not have any hiving still to this day?

Thank you and C *O* N *G *R *A *T *U *L *A *T *I* O *N *S once more!

Hello all! My name is and I joined the board

again about 2 weeks ago. I was a member a little over

My story begins like this I woke up one morning with

an itchy butt, thought I just had a rash or something

by the end of the day I had "it" all over my legs,so

my first trip to Urgent Care, hives he said. I was

given a Medrol dose pack. Finished that and still had

"it",so back to Urgent Care given another dose pack

finished them and still had "it" only on my

butt, legs, back, arms, you name it and "it" was there! So

back to Urgent Care, was told no more dose packs

because of the steroid thing, was then referred to an

Allergest.I was given Atarax,Zantac,and

Prednesone.This medicine mixture continued for

months, only to have "it" everyday everynight, along

with the swelling of my feet, lips, eyes,in my joints at

the elbows,knessand ankles.After about a year I went

to the University of Virginia medical center in

Charlottesville, onlt then did relief come. This Dr.

tild me that the dosage of meds. I was being given

was'nt in a high enough mg.So I was uped from 75mg. of

Atarax a day to 300mg. a day,no more prednesone and up

to 300mg. of Zantac a day. This helped alot and then

more "its" returned. So a phone call to the Dr. at UVA

and my Atarax was uped from 300mgs. a day to 900mgs. a

day.BINGO!!!!!!!! I truly don't know if it was the

medicine that finally helped or if they "ran their

course" as the Drs. would say.I tried to think of

anything different I may have come into contact with

or new detergent or whatever.I can only thing of one

thing and that was my carpet,we had just bought a

house at that time and it had new berber carpet

throughout,that is what I blame my"its" on. But I

guess I'll never know for sure.

It's been about a year,and still NO hives.Thank

God!!!!

The only medication I take now is the Zantac for acid

reflux nothing else.I don't know if more mgs. of

medicine will help any of you but it may be worth a

call to your Dr. to at least ask,it could'nt hurt.I

truly hope you all find your "cure"I suffered a year

day and night withs hives and I would'nt wish that

misery on any living soul.My prayer for you is that

you find your "cause" and be able to live a life free

of this "disease".

Happy New Year to all.
