I have written to Reut, she mentioned that the play was based on a book..I see

that she has also mentioned that in another message to the crew. Has anyone

read this book?? I for one will be trying to get a copy. She did write back to

me and I agree, she does seem to be a lovely girl.

What a concept, No More Surgery! I sure like the sound of that. I am also

allergic to adhesive although the anti-allergy kind usually is ok. When I

had the D & C in February I had round, red marks from the thingys (I like to be

technical) they stuck on to monitor me. The red lasted over a week. Guess I

should be glad I didn't have a worse reaction like you.

ne:

I have had several fibroids for about 10 years. I am 51 years old and

definitely perimenopausal. I had no periods for several months during the

winter of 2002 then started bleeding in June 2002 and continued until

September, had periods October, November (flooding), and December. Light

spotting January and February 2003. Since then no bleeding again. In

February 2003 I had a D & C because my gyno was unable to complete an embo

biopsy. He removed 2 polyps (previously undiagnosed). We think they were

causing my bleeding problems. I definitely still have issues with fibroids

although not as bad (they have shrunk a little) as I once did. I would not

be afraid to have a D & C. No pain, very slight crampy twinges for a couple of

days after, no bleeding very slight spotting.

My main perimenopausal symptom had been vaginal dryness for several years,

now in the last 2 weeks I have had occasional hot flashes. They have not

been as bad as I feared and they pass off quickly.

I used BCP for 2 years in the late '90s to regulate my periods. That

coincided with the largest growth spurt of my fibroids. Related? Who can be

sure. I suspect it was. On the other hand I had 2 years where my periods

were " normal, " on time and no HEAVY bleeding. In that sense they bought me

time because I had started to have heavier, irregular periods. I was able to

live normally, even had a wonderful 2 1/2 week trip to London with my

daughter and sister-in-law. Buying time with BCP can be a great benefit to

fibroidians because it gives us time to research options, find better gynos

and perhaps take advantage of new treatments. When I was on BCP I had never

heard of NUFF or this group, myomectomy or UAE, didn't even know the term

" watchful waiting. " Also, did not realize that my gyno was a G.O.D. (gyno of

doom). He's no longer my gyno.

Will I ever have any treatment for my invaders? I don't know. I do have a

protruding abdomen, some pressure on bladder and bowels (less than a few

years ago) some discomfort from pressure. On the other hand, I haven't had

to go through and recover from UAE, myomectomy or hysterectomy.

Still " watchful waiting "

Hi. Just read your post. I'm curious about your situation because I've done

nothing with my " invaders " either. How big are your fibroids now and what's

the biggest they were before you said they've shrunk some? I take it your

G.O.D. recommended hysterectomy only since you said you'd never even heard of

the other options? Did you find a doctor who agreed to just follow you with

your fibroids?

Thanks for the info

Amy

Hi , I can relate to your story. Thank you for being so specific

with your details, it helps to examine myself more closely.

I've been waiting very watchfully too for the last 6 years, almost

welcoming menopause, couldn't wait to face it head on, it would

shrink my fibroids, 5 by now, I was told. But I'm only getting more

pregnant and I'm about ready to give birth, to what? Or to get active

in doing something about it.

Hormones! I want to know everything about not just estrogen but

progesterone, testosterone, androgens, and DNEA, which seems to be a

very exciting journey for me. It feels I'm getting some kind of

control over an area that has been surrounded in clouds of mystery. I

can see now, and put into perspective, how I've been feeling lately

but much more on an emotional/spiritual/sexual level. My progesterone

levels must have been low for a long time giving estrogens 'free

play' to over produce and grow cells, higher progesterone levels can

curb that and at least stop growth. Low testosterone and DNEA which

contain androgens can leave us without a 'zest for life' feeling,

etc. etc.

There is lots to research and explore within myself, and now

experiment, with starting to take high doses of progesterone (200mg

p. day), some testostone and androgens and starting a journal to keep

a record of my findings. It will be interesting to see what happens

with my energy levels, inspiration, fantasy, sense of self. I'm sure

these 'babies' have influenced my life on more levels than one.

Anyway, I'm tired right now from long train trips and big city

madness, public transport systems and high scary towers, elevators,

escalators, to pursue my chase of natural hormones that cost me a

fortune, so I'm going to chill out and contemplate but will keep you

posted. A 16cm fibroidian, with a 10cm one next to it, am I the

largest now? Margo-down under

Hi !

I read your post and I am now curious. ;) In advance of my question,

I would like to say please forgive me if it is too personal ~ I am

still desperately trying to understand my own little invaders!

Here goes . . .

Do you happen to remember if your weight fluctuated at all during

those " early years " ? Or, did you make any changes to improve your

diet during the 2 years you were " normal " (your periods, not YOU!

teehee)? I have found that since I cut out a lot of refined sugars

and increased the fruits and veggies, committed to an exercise

program (LOTS of walking) and dropped a few elbows, my symptoms have

decreased significantly. As you have done a wonderful job tracking

your " Life With Fibroids " , I'm interested to know if you noticed

these similarities as well. BTW ~ like you, I have not had any

surgery or medication treatment for mine. Thanks so much!

It is a beautiful day in Minneapolis today, I hope you are sharing in

equally as wonderful Springtime weather where you are!
