what the growing medium consists of, never asked. But the supplement

ingredients listing has nothing but L. Acidophilus and cellulose for the capsule

(which you can empty and avoid the cellulose if you prefer).

Acidophilus or the Custom Probiotics L. Acidophilus. Haven't tried GiProHealth.

Couldn't tolerate the Lyosan legal acidophilus, but it does include dairy.

I live in Canada and was wondering does anyone have a brand name for the

probiotics they take. I started taking some calcium but it really upsets my

stomache any suggestions.

Beware of calcium supplements which are in the carbonate form. Taking that

form, especially at meals, reduces the stomach acid to levels that prevent your

digestive enzymes from working. You should look for a supplement that is bound

with an organic acid like citrate. That form does not neutralize stomach acid

and is more readily absorbed. Other possible choices would include the mixed

acids (fumarate, maleate, succinate), gluconate and ascorbate. One common idea

about the cause of reflux disease is that the stomach acid is not sufficient for

proper digestion, resulting in prolonged secretion of acid.

I take Natren ...as its dairy free & professional strength ...but it does grow the friendlies on chickpea flour ( illegal) they help me & my boss sells them to me for $22 ( they retail for $40!) for 90 caps ...that & kimchee/fermented veggies ..for dairy free friendlies ... I think Custom Probios sells dairy free ( or maybe Kirkman?) but they wouldn't guarantee it would arrive chilled & the shipping & exchange would do me in price wise!! I have checked 1/2 dozen different HFS & there aren't any "legal" ones there --they all have fos & inulin & too many varieties of bacteria etc ..are you in Eastern Canada? available may be different way out there ...cheers, gisele
