1. the past is the past. It is not a good idea to nail your hem to a

stairstep you have already passed long ago.

2. Mostly, the man you might choose for a lover is different than the man you

would choose as a husband or a father to children. A lover may be

scintillating, entertaining, ooey-gooey sexual and filled with smoky la-la.

But, a man for a husband and father has to be made of far more enduring

stuff, both in heart and soul.

3. Humor will make a relationship last far, far longer than any sexual aspect.

4. Sexuality is a " theme " in a realtionship. It is not the backbeat nor the

meolody.

5. whatever goodness you are looking for is also looking for you.

6. After a point, excitement is malnourishing.

7. Since our lives as we become older become more interested in depth and to

fulfilling our promises we made to God before we came to earth; choose either

someone who agrees with your soul's mission on earth, or, who, at the very

least, will not stand in your way.

8. A man is not an entertainment source like televion or the movies. A

companion does not exist to be " on " alol the time. A quiet soul, a good soul,

a decent soul, --these are the salt of the earth. If you need excitement,

take up moto-cross. If you need to be admired; give your life to something

admirable. If you want to be loved, choose a person who has the proven

capacity to love, instead of just singing a song and dance about love.

9. Don't be ashamed of anything. As we who are 'women of a certain age "

know-- no matter how we look, we all still look good in half-light. We have

our own tiny harmless ways of creating illusions.

10. once again, (grin--are you tired of me saying this yet?) except for the

occasional tummy-slapping,-tell-me-who's-your-momma-now kind of sex, sexual

giving and receiving between lovers is wide open to being a whole person

experience for each and together; this comes with the deepening of love that

is time-tested rather than just road tested.
