Guest guest
Hi: Can someone explain to me the difference between a RAST test and an IgE/IgG food panel allergy test? I know the IgE IgG test is a blood test. I had this done and it was explained to me that the IgE is related to immediate reactions while the IgG is related to delayed reactions. I showed high reactions on both IgG and IgE to milk products and cut them out for 7 weeks with no result. My doc. told me that this test was very controversial and apparantly not accurate in my case. But I am confused how this test differs from the RAST test and if I should get the RAST test done. These tests seem very confusing when one already has skin issues. I also had the skin prick tests which showed positive reactions to many foods which I then eliminated for 3 weeks with no change. Dr. said that 3 weeks was long enough to try and I just had a false positive reaction. If anyone can fill me on on the RAST test I would appreciate it. Thanks.
