Well my aunt went in for her appointment, they had they appointments wrong.

So she now is going back on Monday for her biopsy. She is not sure if they

are doing a colposcopy or what.

I went into the doctor yesterday because my periods are so irregular. My

last two have come 53 and 55 days apart. I have always been irregular but

not like this. Anyway, he ran a bunch of blood tests that so far have all

come back normal. An utrasound has been scheduled for Monday the 12th. He

is evaluting for Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOS). The thing that bothers

him the most is that when my thyroid levels are normal my periods are spaced

so far apart, when my levels are at their worst my periods are more " normal "

He mentioned something about a tumor while pointing to his head but he

doesn't think it's that because my symptoms are not that strong. He is

leaning more towards ovarian disease. Pro's and con's. I have been reading

on PCOS and for the most part they use hormones to treat it. I have always

been told with my family history they would not use hormones to treat me for

conditions. With PCOS it can cause a variety of other conditions, breast

cancer, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, diabetes. Too say the

least I am freaking out a bit. I hate waiting. The brain tumor suggestion

freaks me out the most.

So that's my update for the week. heavy sigh. Haven't had any drama in the

family for a while, guess we are making up for lost time???

Thanks for listening ... hope you all have a great weekend

Patti,

Sorry to hear about the mix up with your Aunts appointment. I will keep her and you in my prayers.

Our daughter had PCOS and ended up with a hysterectomy at age 29. But hers was a case of not getting periods for months on end.

I've had polycystic ovarian disease since I was 22, I'm 48 now. I went 2 years without a period and didn't realize that was a bad thing until I finally went for a yearly exam. They told me that not having a period could cause uterine cancer...they checked me out and I'm fine. It also caused problems with getting me pregnant. Went to a fertility clinic and they finally got me to ovulate and then it turned out my ex had "lazy sperm". I've had some discomfort with it. A cyst will get big and painful and then it will automatically drain. Sorry - grusome.

Yes I've now had breast cancer - er+ and high blood pressure, but my diabetes if diet control. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's not all bad...even with these things, I feel relatively well.

, thank you for your story. I would much rather deal with the PCOS than the brain tumor that he brought up. That's the part that's freaking me out. It may sound wierd, but if I have to choose I pick the PCOS. I'm thru with having any more children, my youngest is turning 12 on friday. No desires to start over again. I have read that not only hormones are used to treat PCOS but weight loss and changing my diet. So no bettet time than the present. Even if it's not, could not hurt to change my eating habits. Silver streak, guess maybe I have found one?
