Hi, . Thanks for the message. It was a nice thing to read

this time of night when I am tired from a long, long day.

Please do not get the impression that Max is gh resistant because of

the timing of the start of the treatment. I am not sure that this

is the reason for it and I do not want anyone to get the wrong

idea. Dr. Harbison herself has said that she does not exactly know

why this has happened. And, to be honest, when I press her, she

avoids the subject. We could press her some more, but we decided

that it is more important at this point to know how to deal with it

than it is to know why it happened. I get the impression, however,

that it is the luck of the draw. And, of course, if it's going to

happen, it seems to happen to Max.

Dr. Harbison has told us repeatedly that Max will make it to at

least 5'2 " . It is hard to believe when he is now 13 and just 4'8 " ,

but we have faith in her. Once I get Max over to the radiology

department, I will be able to have his bone age done and she will

then be able to tell us more about his projected height. There is a

push to have the bone age done because he has gained so much weight

from the Risperdal he was on, that he could be secreting some other

hormone that could interfere with his growth. I don't quite

understand it yet, but I will get there. Now that he is off

Risperdal and on Clonidine (to control his tics) we have seen a big

drop in his appetite. Would you believe he gained 14 pounds in 7

months????

As you have said, our boys have great personalities. I think it is

part of the RSS. If you have not heard me say it before, I have

said for 13 years that this is God's way of making up for something

that has made our kids different.

I, too, am looking forward to the convention. I'm presenting this

year, too!!! Yikes!!! Well, if I can teach several reading classes

of kids with learning disabilities, I can certainly speak in front

of a group of parents. It will be so great to see everyone again

and for the first time, too!

Hi Eileen,

Just got home.. doing well. Prep went well, I was totally clean.

The scope and propofol went well too unfortunately my stricturing in my colon is

so severe they could not do the whole colonoscopy even with a pediatric scope.

So I am back to square 1.

Anyway, will post later..

Thanks all for your prayers- it means a great deal.. I am feeling fine except

for the abundant amount of air they pumped into my colon to dilate the area.

Jodi,

You've been in my thoughts and prayers all yesterday and today. Harry

sends his best, too -- he knows how stressed out I was about my

colonoscopy.

I'm so sorry they couldn't make it all the way up.

But that you are feeling OK, in spite of the prep, in spite of all the

air... that's wonderful!

Amazing what happens when you prepare for every contingency, and know

what your body's parameters are!

Jodi, I too, thought about you this am, driving to work, hoping that all went well.

Even though it is discouraging that the strictures impeded the procedure, I wonder how much worse you would be at this stage of the game if you did not follow SCD. It is because you do follow SCD that your quality of life has improved and that you are as healthy as you are--so congratulations for all you do and just take each day as it comes and deal with each day. I know that you'll do well and I am praying for you too.
