Jen,

I don't have anything concrete from which to say this, so maybe someone

else will chime in. But it's been said that during times of stress,

like surgery or sickness, to double your dose of hc until the stress is

passed. Now it doesnt' look like your stresses are going to pass

anytime soon, but I'm thinking it would be a good idea to double your

dose for a week or so. I don't think it would hurt anything and it's

bound to help.

Still praying,

Debbie K.

The week prior to starting my period I begin craving carbs and also begin

retaining the fluids. The next week I start my period and by the third day

the extra fluid is gone. The week after my period when I ovulate, the day

of, I often experience nausea, diarrhea, a heightened sense of taste, smell,

and hearing, and my rings just spin on my hands. Then the next week I'm

normal. " Then it all starts over again.

***That's amazing how different! Since I have gotten older I have had 2 bad

times of my cycle, both pre/during period and during ovulation. And since my

cyles have gone down to 21 days I am pretty much always either pre/during of

something! It has been the pits! REALLY!!!

I have been feeling " on the edge " of panic several times of late. I HATE

THAT FEELING. It is such an out-of-control feeling. I feel so stupid when

I have it.

*** I wonder if these feeling could be helped by a little hydrocortisone. Your

daily dose is still quite low. I think you could feel comfortable experimenting

with a little more. I have found that it takes effect within 15-20 minutes ( 5

mg dose ) Hubby feels it in 10 minutes. So experimenting gives almsot instant

results. Sometimes I need my dose sooner than 4 hours and can feel the need come

on....intense physiologic chnages for the worse that effect me mentally....so I

dose early. If it has been a stressful day I always take extra....either 2.5 or

5 mg depending....and still continue with my regular doses. For several weeks I

had been at 25 mg a day. Now I have been able to cut the 2.5 mg before bed and

sleep well right through. ( this took a while to achieve ) I am doing well

throughout the day even with a few stresses ( smaller ones ) and feeling better

overall. I am aiming to use only 20 mg a day and then will decrease when I can.

But I do not have any fantasies that it will be soon. I feel very safe and

comfortable taking 20-25 mg every day.

Jeez, it is just a trip to the doc, or just a class you want to

take, or just your family coming over for lunch. Why in the world are you

feeling so torqued up. I think I have noticed the hc helping these feelings

but I was kind of assuming that with the right amout of hc (physiological

amount) I wouldn't get these feelings. I guess I thought the right amount

of hc and the right amount of Armour together would help alleviate this

problem.

*** Again, you are probably not at the right dose of hydrocortisone. Also, I

have found as others have said, that the right combo of Armour and

hydrocortisone can be difficult to balance out. Seems they work with and against

each other. One day it feels great. The next one or the other is off. I think

it'll be a fight to be in balance till the adrenals are strong again. With the

care of hubby I have been able to throw resting into the mixture and that has

really helped a lot.

.If it isn't one thing it is another.

*** I think this time in your life is a time where you need to be selfish. You

probably got so sick by never being selfish. I think that one has to learn

limits and maintain certain boundaries or even if one gets well, the same

patterns of living will cause a repeat in health crises. Perhaps you can find

another family member to lend an ear to them right now....give yourslef a chance

to heal!

PS I thought it sounded thyroidish also, but I'm afraid to bump just yet

since I just did on about 8/23/04. I'm terrified of making myself feel

worse.

*** I think you need to support your adrenals more before you increase the

thyroid.

Jen,

Gosh, I always retain tons of water with ovulation! I am jealous! And my

ovulations have been screwed up lately and so the whole process is prolonged

or doesn't happen quite right. Like right now....I cannot get my rings off!

It's the whole mess....oilier skin, break-outs....UGH! Estrogen rises the

most just before ovulation and estrogen causes water retention...what are

you doing??? Do you use a progesterone cream? What kind? I'd love to stop

this ovulation bloat. It makes me nuts!

Last period I did NOT have cramps!!! If you knew my history of severe cramps

you would know this is a miracle! I'm wondering if it is the new physiology

due to Armour and hc. We will see this next period.

You definitely need to set limits right now about how much you expend of

yourself on others. If you feel you are on the edge, then you are. You know

how bad a crash can be. I do use an extra 2.5-5 mg of hc right after a

psychological shock where my adrenals are so weak. My brother told me that I

need to take care of myself first and foremost right now. You know, if we do

not then we are so bad off that we cannot even take care of ourselves. I've

been there....I know you have too.

I don't recall...sorry....are you on HC support for your adrenals now?

OH!!! Just saw your PS!!! Wow....sounds lack of thyroidish to me!
