Guest guest
Hi there, I wrote several weeks ago about my toddler who was diagnosed gluten sensitive/celiac. Since then myself and two sons have also been diagnosed the same. I have an aunt who is celiac and casein intolerant. I guess from all that I am reading that it is not uncommon to have both. I know that lactose is broken down in the 24 hour yogurt and I've heard the casein protein is denatured also. What about in cheese? I know Elaine said the lactose is not an issue in cheese, but what about casein? Thanks again, SCD since Jan 2009 myself, toddler DD, two DS gluten sensitive/celiac
Guest guest
Just bumping this up in hopes that someone will answer! I am wondering if cheese could be the issue. My 2 yo daughter's diet is very limited right now----eggs, meats, yogurt, cooked apples, occasionally pears, small amounts of tomato sauce, carrot, honey and egg pancakes and baked cheese and occasional broth. We've tried cooked pureed green beans which seemed to be a problem. I've just tried cooking and pureeing zuchini and mixing it with cooked apples but today she had a yellow whipped cream consistency blowout. Could this be from zuchini? So, she is not getting anything green. She still has some rashes off and on in her diaper area and lightly around her mouth. Since her stools have (prior to today) just normalized I am afraid to do any anti-yeasty things more than what we're doing. She doesn't seem to be gaining a lot of weight. She still nurses and I am eating more advanced SCD. So my question again: is casein " denatured " in cheese? I read it was in yogurt. Many celiacs are also casein intolerant. Thanks! So, > she is not getting anything green. It could be - but there could be other factors - if you are in the Northern Hemisphere - it could also be environmental, from spring allergies. She could also be effected by your diet - what are you eating these days. She could be allergic to something she is getting secondhand in your milk. > She still has some rashes off and on in her diaper area and lightly > around her mouth. I'm not sure it is in yogurt. Maybe someone else will clarify. Anyway, have you joined pecanbread.com? They know more about kids there - they are experts.
