Guest guest
Eileen I'm not Jodi, but was curious about the extra ingredients in your supplement. Dicalcium phosphate, magnesium stearate and magnesium trisilicate appear to be commonly used in supplements, primarily to bind or otherwise blend the ingredients to make the item easier to swallow or handle while in the bottle. Dicalcium phosphate has generated some discussions about possible (probable according to some) causes for kidney stones and other calcification issues. I would imagine that this would only occur after long-term use of large doses. Wikipedia states that magnesium stearate is used as a diluent in tablets. Diluent means thinning. Probably part of the manufacturing process. I think in this context, magnesium trisilicate is added for the antacid properties. To make the tablet/capsule get through the stomach with less impact. I have the impression that all three ingredients are fairly commonly added to supplements. They aren't on the illegal ingredient supplement list at www.pecanbread.com, so I would guess that they are " use at your own risk " and are probably fine for most people. My choice would be to try to find another brand that would have less of these extra ingredients -- but that's me, since my body is very intolerant of supplements. Kim M.
