Oh my!! That dr definitely needs an attitude adjustment. What a horrible thing

to say to a patient. I have never heard of anyone, dr or not, saying not to talk

to others about your treatment etc.

I am glad your cancer co-ordinator is going to help you. I would definitely look

into another oncologist and fast!

Just an update

I spoke to my doctor who as per useal told me " You need to relax. Your

only getting adriamycin and cytoxin. You shouldn't be feeling sick.

You may get some nausea but that's it. What are you going to do when

you start getting Taxol? "

I explained that I did what she suggested. I Joined a group and had

some input from other people who have had or are getting chemo. They

were very helpful and explained that there are medictions to help me.

She then told me " You shouldn't listen to other people! You don't need

to talk to groups or anyone! Every chemo is different and your is

different from theirs! "

I had enough! I called my cancer co-ororinadtor at my insurance and

explained my situation. She told me: " It's good to talk to other

people. How do you think everyone gets through the rough spots in

their treatments? They talk to others who understand.Don't worry. I'll

have this taken care of today! If your sick from the chemo she has

several options of medications to give you! Don't complain to her

anymore. Call me and I'll make sure you get the proper medications and

I'll read her the riot act about cancer protacal. You just feel

better. I'll call you back this evening and I promise you'll get the

proper care and medications you need. I'll have her call your pharmacy

today with something to help you. "

Thank You everyone.

Wow I am glad my doctor didn't tell me that. A/C made me so sick I

lost 15 lbs the first week I was on it. My doctor told me I should

of told her I was so sick cause they have other medications to help

with the nausea, (Emend?) expensive mind you but it worked, thank

goodness. If I had not switch medications I would of wasted away to

nothing and been very miserable. I still have a hard time just

seeing red Koolaid!!

I’m so glad that you are getting help from your insurance company – of all

people! Like many others in this group, I was really hit hard by the nausea

side affect; it’s incredible that your doctor doesn’t understand this. I’m

with nne, my personal choice would be a new oncologist.

I don't know how your insurance works. However, after an incident

like this I think I would be looking for another doctor, not just

forcing the doctor to give you relief. Your doctor does not want to

" play nice. " I would want a doctor I had at least a modicum of trust

in.

FWIW I'm now looking ahead in case I decide to get a second opinion

for myself. So far I'm pleased with the care I am receiving. However,

if I think things are not progressing as expected (whatever that is)

I'm looking around for other doctors. I was pleased to see the " US

News and World Report " that arrived today. Four of the top 40 cancer

hospitals are in Ohio, two within an hour or so of my home near the

sticks.

You know, your response reminded me of a thought I had earlier in

the day. I was trying to figure out what drink to bring with me

Thursday to chemo. Last time I froze a bottle of Fruit2O. That worked

out pretty well. However, I was thinking that if I continued with that

I might get to the point where I would get sick just from seeing the

bottle. I think I'll bring apple juice this time. :-)

I take Emend also, Lucky for me my Oncologist's Nurse gave me 2 packets of

it that they had so my first chemo's of nausea medicine didn't cost me

anything. When she told me they where 100 .a pill that almost made me

sick!....lol I will have to get my others myself but at least those didn't

cost me anything!!

I don't know if I will need them for my other doses of Chemo,,,they will be

given me cytoxan after I am done with the a/c.

I can not believe your oncologist I hope you fired her and go to another

although I realize that would be hard to do since you have started

treatments already, I would sure complain to the Hospital she is

associtiated with. She should not be a Dr, She should lose her license!!!!

I can't believe your doctor's response - " only getting adriamycin and

cytoxan " ? Those are 2 powerful drugs with multiple side effects.

I felt badly after my first treatment, told my doctor, and was switched

to different meds before and after so that my 2nd treatment went much

better.

I hope you get the proper medication. My doctor and nurses said they

can't always tell what will work with each woman, so they may have to

try different drugs based on your feedback. But they always wanted to

know how I was doing and encouraged me to call them with any questions.

take care,

try different drugs based on your feedback. But they always wanted to

know how I was doing and encouraged me to call them with any questions.

My doctor wanted to know about anything out of the ordinary - even something

such as hiccups. Any pain - in any part of my body at all. He told me that

new side affects show up as the a/c is giving to new/different women. If

nothing else, you doctor should have been considering the dosage he/she was

giving you, as sometimes it has to be reduced or increased.or the drip

should be slowed down or sped up.all of these things could affect how much

or how little nausea you get. Are you getting the Adriamycin as a push? If

not, you could have skin problems and headaches. Does your onc know any of

this? It's common knowledge with the nurses in my doctor's practice.the

ones that actually give us the treatments.

Re: Just an update

I can't believe your doctor's response - " only getting adriamycin and

cytoxan " ? Those are 2 powerful drugs with multiple side effects.

I felt badly after my first treatment, told my doctor, and was switched

to different meds before and after so that my 2nd treatment went much

better.

I hope you get the proper medication. My doctor and nurses said they

can't always tell what will work with each woman, so they may have to

try different drugs based on your feedback. But they always wanted to

know how I was doing and encouraged me to call them with any questions.

Your oncologist should change specialties immediately. Seems to me that she

would be far better suited as a rhinocerous proctologist!!!!!!!

Unless your doctor has been in your shoes he/she doesn't know what you are

going through!!! And yes everyone reacts differently. That is why she should

listen(obviously she/he is not listening to you). I would run to the nearest

phone call your primary doctor and demand an ocolligist who will listen to

you, tell them just what you told us and I am sure they will get you another

more compationate doctor!!!! I would also report this doctor to the hospital

where they have their privalages!!! You deserve better!!!!!!!!!!

-- Just an update
