Guest guest
Hi, I just immediately thought that maybe you should find a vulvar pain specialist and get another opinion before you let anybody do surgery on you. Since we don't know what kind of doctor is going to perform this potential surgery I think we can't answer very intelligently possibly. But--there are different reasons for severe pain there and you really need to be sure that he knows what he is doing and that you have been diagnosed properly. Just my two cents. Maybe you should tell us where you live and somebody can recommend a doctor to see for a second opinion. Arline --- cgranger192 wrote: > Hi everyone. Guest guest
I would suggest going to physical therapy first. I would NOT let anyone cut on you. How many doctors have you seen? Where do you live? There are other things you should try first. Have you looked into vaginismus? Which can be helped with physical therapy.BABB wrote: Hi,I just immediately thought that maybe you should finda vulvar pain specialist and get another opinionbefore you let anybody do surgery on you. Guest guest
Thanks so much for everyone's information. I have not seen a vulvar pain specialist. I currently live on Long Island, NY but I would be willing to commute to NYC for any doctors that are specialists in this are. If anyone has a recommendation, I would love to hear it. What type of physical therapy would you recommend? I have heard of myofasical release helping but I am unable to find a provider who handles women's health that takes insurance. Currently, I have blue cross blue shield but I will be transitioning to Oxford.

Guest guest
I believe from the desicription of your symptoms that what you have is called vaginisimus. Has anyone ever recomended physical therapy for you? Most women that I have spoken with who have primary vaginimus (the small opening is the primary reason for the pain and not say the vestibulary glands for instance) have responded better to dialator therapy and biofeedback then to surgery. Usually the pelvic floor muscles are involved. I can't possibly know if this is what you have, as I am not a doctor. But I would definatly ask your doctor about this before going through with the procedure. I have often found that asking a few questions and having a little better education of what I am going through can ease my mind a bit. Guest guest
You can try Goldstein. He is expensive and doesn't work with Insurance Companies (you have to submit the claim to your insurance yourself). He practices in Wash DC and Manhattan. His Manhattan number is also his Washington DC practice: . He himself doesn't do PT but he could probably recommend someone. Jaelynne > > > > Thanks so much for everyone's information.
