Is Kelsey on gh? Could that be causing the headaches? My daughter is also 9

and only weighs 42.5 pounds. She hopefully will be starting the gh soon, but I

am worried that maybe headaches are a side effect. Let me know.

No kelsey is not on gh but has alot of other medical problems that are

probably causing the migraines. It took kelsey along time to gain weight and

now her body is crooked cause she has scoliosis real bad. Between her

headaches and her back i don't know which is worse...

Hi Jackie

I wish I could be of some help but my 9 1/2 year old RSS son has never had

head aches, let alone migraines. Could it be genetic? As in someone in your

immediate family has it? We so often look to the RSS as the cause, I'm just

wondering if it's part of his genetic makeup?

Just wondering. I hope things are better soon it's awful to see your child

uncomfortable. I know!

Take care

Well migraines did run in the family but not as severe as she gets them!! We

think it might be a combination of family and RSS. Plus with her teeth all

messed up and her scoliosis it's realy hard to pin point why they are so bad!

I just know it's absolutly terrible when they hit! Thanks Jackie

Jackie,

If you can come, you really should! We were also very nervous our first year,

but it made so much difference for us and especially for Storm. He was really

starting to notice how much smaller he was and he thought that no one was as

small as he was. Then he met lots of small kids just like him at the convention,

and he knows that he is not alone in his battle! Also, getting to meet other

parents who were struggling with many of the same struggles we had gave us such

a sense of relief that we were not alone either! It was amazing! I hope I get to

go every year, and I hope as Storm grows up he will continue to go to make a

difference for those younger than him, and for their parents!

The choice is yours of course! The hotel is very nice and the people from MAGIC

are fantastic!

Jackie, my daughter has also suffered migraine attacks

for a number of years, she is 24 now, in saying that

over the last 5 years they have been less and less, I

must say that I never related it to RSS as I am also a

migraine sufferer. Hope the headaches are subsiding,

thinking of you. Sue

Hi Cara, Kelsey is alittle less then 25% percent on her growth chart, Her

pediatrician said that she should be 50 percent or more for her age, i

laughed cause she has never come close to that ever! This is all new to us,

we knew when she was born that she was alittle different but the doctors

never diagnosed her, she was always very little and skinny and her face was

different then my other children. Over all she is a beutiful child but i'll

tell ya the other kids now a days can be real mean!! Kelsey weres glasses and

her teeth are all mess up and they tease her all the time, she comes home

from school crying alot!!! I hope you don't have to go threw that!!!! I found

out with her age that alot of the RSS traits slowly diminish, but we face new

problems everyday! Thanks Jackie mom of kelsey

Carmen, no i did'nt know that they have a growth chart for rss, where do you

get them? This is all new to us, we did'nt realy know anything untill

november when the pediatrician found her spine was mess up. When she was a

baby the doctor she had did'nt know anything about rss, we just kept finding

ways for her to gain weight and deal with the ear infections,ect... Her

doctor now is the one that said this is it and here are all the signs, god

bless her cause she has been wonderful. jackie mom of kelsey

Dear Jackie, I saw where you said your daughter Kelsey is 50 inches at 9.

My daughter Dallas is 7yr8mo and is 48 in. She's also just 4opds. Do you

know how Kelsey is on the growth charts? I need to take Dallas in for a big

checkup on her growth, I've been wanting to chat with someone that is

similar to Dallas. Seems there are so many people with a lot younger

children on the chat room. Thanks, Cara

Jackie,

If you think about it, Storm would have to grow 4 inches a year to be 50 inches

by age 9. (he is almost 7) So, I would say that she is about average for an RSS

girl of her age. Did you know that there are actual RSS growth charts so you can

see how your child rates against other RSS kids. Storm is just below the 50% on

the RSS chart for boys his age.

Dear Jackie, I'm sorry Kelsey has problems with her teeth. Dallas is slow

to lose hers. She has only lost one on the bottom, however she has had a

lot filled. It's funny she still has a problem with bad breath even after

getting all her teeth fixed. The dentist said it might be sinus problems.

Dallas' biggest problem has been in school with communication delays. She

has been in a delayed program ever since two and 1/2. I know they say these

learning problems get better over the years, but it sure does scare me.

They just tested her for a triennial review and wanted to label her MR. I

had to go through the whole big explanation of RSS and bring in medical

records to have her labeled Other Health Impaired. I also know Dallas would

be higher on the charts as I'm 5'9 " and I know she would be much taller.

Where do you live? We live in Fredericksburg,VA an hour south of DC. Nice

chatting with you. Do you get your messages off your junk mail? I know I

don't have it set up right. Thanks, CAra, mother of Dallas 7

Cara - Are you a member of MAGIC? If so, we can hook you and Dallas

up with other parents of RSS children of similar ages. Dallas can

even trade emails with other little girls. We could even base it

only on geographic area, where you could actually maybe get-together

with another family. Let me know.
