I saw it. I think what Janie is saying is that docs make it all so

complicated most of the time...with the labs and everything...when all one

really has

to do is give someone some Armour and let them dose up until symptoms are

gone. if they would do that in the first place...with a whole lot of the low

thyroid symptoms (skin disorders, IBS, fibro, foot problems, depression,

etc.)...I

think the conditions would not get so bad.

Debbie,

I know there was no criticism intended anywhere. In fact, aside from the

light humor Janie and I saw, I think we both probably appreciate a doctor who is

actually looking at labs in an intelligent way. So many of them don't seem to

be able to understand and analyze labs in a way that is beneficial to their

patient. And it does sound like he's a great doctor. And his approach was

definitely interesting and he sounds informed. So please don't take any

offense.

I sincerely hope he is helpful to your daughter and I am sure their is a

connection since you have the Hashi's. I'm actually thinking of trying my 25

year old daughter on some Armour.

Hi Debbie. Glad that you found a great doc and like him! But I had

to chuckle after reading it all. Can you just see a pre-1975 Armour

doc--the ones who only dosed by symptoms--reading all this?? LOL.

Their eyes would have bugged out of their sockets, because all they

would have done is given her Armour and told her to dose until her

symptoms were gone. LOL.

I see and there are certainly not even any remotely hard feelings

here. I guess the reason it wasn't humorous to me is that it's not that

simple with Kate. Children are not as verbal, at least Kate's not.

It's great to have blood tests to help us figure things out.

Kate's symptoms are few. She has been diagnosed as ADD (maybe it's

the brain fog we all talk about) She has long periods (we all know that

can be thyroid related). She's a little depressed (thyroid). She can't

get to sleep at night and doesn't rest good when she does then can't get

up in the morning (adrenal). So I'm thinking we should explore this

thyroid thing, especially since I am hashi's.

I whole heartedly agree that most docs rely too much on blood tests.

But I also don't think we should disregard them either. With Kate's

labs, most docs would have said she fine, her ranges are normal and sent

us on our way. But not Doc Milton, b/c he listened. And I didn't think

his approach was complicated at all. I could have given less detail,

but included it for the newbies on board. For those of us who are not

so new to this, I thought the percentages were interesting.

Doc Milton is not relying on the blood tests only. We have

discussed symptoms and he examined her in the office. I think he wanted

to do Adrenal support for a while before starting the Armour.

Meanwhile, the labs came in. They confirmed what he was thinking. I

was just reporting what he said the blood work was showing for our

education and, for the purpose of this post, didn't see the need to go

into symptoms. I didn't mean to imply that he pays little or no

attention to symptoms. I just don't want anyone getting the wrong

impression of Doc Milton. He is everything we say we want in a doc.

Blessings,

Debbie K.

I thought it interesting too. That's why I shared. I think the bottom

line with Doc Milton is symptoms also. The labs are just useful tools,

but definitely not the only one.

Re: Report on Doc Milton Visit via

Cindi's got it. The pre-1975 doc, with no labs and information like

we have today, would have been amazed at all the info and facts that

Milton was able to give you. I've always felt the same way about

DaVinci--he was absolutely brilliant, but lived in a much more

simple society. And wouldn't HE have been amazed by computers and

the mathematical info we know now!!

But the bottom line, really, is not percentages and numbers...it's

symptoms and treating them. But it's interesting what he gave you!!

I've heard good things about him.

My son sounds just like Kate (except the periods lol ) and he is doing very

well on Amour. It has been only 3 months now, but the improvements are

numerous. His basil temp has normalized too. I just read in Dr. Young's

book Thyroid Guardian of Health, that the dose for kids was twice that of

adults. Yet, our holistic doc said the labs would let the TSH's of kids get

as high as 10 before they would flag them...Doesn't match up does it.

Anyway, my son's TSH was 3.5, and he is currently on 1 grain of armour. I

want to get a retest soon, although my doctor thought it might confuse me.

My husband has hashi's and I have long standing hypoT, that is just not

being treated adequately. Anyway, my son would surely have inherited the

tendency. Sorry it took me 8 years to check into it. If my own thyroid

hadn't crashed the first part of this year, I would have never figured it

out.

Marrianne,

I was just going to say something about that. This one kind of scares

me. We were in the same house during and only lost our power for

literally 10 seconds. But was small compared to this one and

we're going to have a long night and day of rain and wind. I just hope

everything goes well for all of us.

My parents, 85 and 83 (Mom's hypo and on $ynthroid!) have to stay with

us because they're in a moble home. I've been coming home from work

(yes, I'm reclusive, too!) and working until 1:00 am all week making

sure the house is ready and we have provisions, so I'm exhausted. Took

a little more IsoCort today and an extra 1/4 grain of Armour and I'm

doing OK. The beginning of the storm is supposed to start during the

night, so I doubt if we'll sleep well. My hubby works for the Postal

Service (nights) and he has to go in tonight after putting up the

shutters until about 2:30 today after working all night, so he's

exhausted, too. Hopefully, they'll let them go home early. Anyway,

this is going to be interesting for us hypo's in Florida for the next

couple of days.

NO PRESSURE!!!! LOL

Hi, ,

Sorry to be so far behind in e-mails. I hope you fared well. (I don't

even remember which hurricane this was. LOL) My husband works for the

post office too. He's a letter carrier. Our experience has been that we

can't evacuate because by the time the post office let's my husband off,

it's too late or they are expecting him to be back so soon that leaving

wouldn't make sense! I'm in Va. and we would go to my brother's in Tn.

if we left.

Have you seen the post office to be this way?

I sure hope you all are OK!

in VA.

PS. One hurricane we had, my husband found out later that people were

told to tell their mailman to come in and no one told him! He carries a

cell phone with him now.
