Guest guest
I am home thank goodness. Food stayed down, no nausea, no vomiting, no pain. What a friggen relief. Boy this was a difficult episode and every time diminishes my spirit. My brother will be here on Sunday and he is going to stay 6 weeks to see me through this (I keep seeing butchering in my mind but my husband says despite my need to be cynical this is not healthy imagery for me- he's right) I need to think positively. I am actually confident in this surgeon. He did not force me to do any ridiculous tests or drink horrible preps in the hospital at all. The surgery is scheduled May 11th we hope my veins and the flu will be totally gone by then. I did not meet the pain management and anesthesiologist today- I opted to go home. This will be taken care of next week. Thanks everyone for your well wishes and thank you Marilyn for your help about food choices. Everything in the blender next 10 days. Miralax will be a suitable prep before the surgery. I hope I won't have so much D for the surgery and that I will be stronger but I was on massive amounts of Cipro and Flagyl. My WBC was crazy high- like insane. Jodi
Guest guest
Jodi, OK, so your Grand Opening is May 11 -- not June, as you originally said? I'm so glad you are home -- home is always better than a hospital, if you have things set up for yourself. I know I slept SO much better in my own bed! It was a difficult episode, but, take heart at how much more quickly it cleared than the last one, which is clear evidence your guts are healing. Just think what it means for post-surgical healing, and the fact that once those strictures are gone, you won't be getting any MORE! Your husband is right -- Jodi, I know from cynical and I'm telling you that I was scared beyond belief for my cancer surgery. But between good SCD nutrition and the prayers and PINK LIGHTS sent from this group and a couple others, I came through far better than either of my surgeons expected! I'm betting you will, too! Guest guest
We're all rooting for you, Jodi..... If you want to email me with your Hebrew name and your mother's Hebrew name, I would really love to include you in my tehillim (I could also ask the Kosher SCD group members to do the same/daven for you, if you'd like. Sometimes it's nicer to have someone ask on your behalf rather than having to do everything yourself!) Wishing you the start of incredible good health, Ellen 11 y/o dd scd since 5/06 for Crohn's med-free for 8 months and doing great
