Guest guest
Well, i'm pleased again I've been running around 6.0 for a HBA1C for about 4.5 yrs, pretty much since i was diagnosed.... initially i was at 13, but then got it down in 3-5 months to 6.0 I did it that time with diet (lower carb) and exercise. Then kept it down with diet and occasional exercise. This past summer I was diagnosed with uric acid kidney stones.... uric acid is made by purines aka protein. I was told to limit my protein intake to 3 oz of meat a day.... i'd been eating way more. Well, when you limit it, you need to find something to eat.... and i increased my carbs.... This caused my blood sugars to skyrocket... my finger sticks were in the 300 range.... i was started on avandia... up till then i'd not been on any med. my hba1c went to 7.9, and then 4 months llater to 10, meanwhile i was taking the avandia, and eating as low carb as possible..... but i was dealing with cellulitis.... several diff times of the lower leg, of the belly, and of the other leg.. this was a viscous cycle because my leg hurt so much, that exercise was not an option. The infection drove the blood sugars up, and the blood sugars being up fed the infection, and to vice versa. This is my first testing of HBA1C since.... and i'm trhilled to report it was 6.9 on the other hand, my b/p was 160/60, so they put me on quinpril, but it caused major swelling of my ankles..... my cholesterol is up..... soo they want me to try lipitor..
