Guest guest
> But now, reading here, it seems that not only should I fast before > having my blood drawm, I should also avoid certain supplements -- ??? Hi there. No, you don't need to fast before having your blood drawn. Maybe you were confusing the statements about the free T3--if you do labs within 2-3 hours after you have taken your Armour, you will get a higher free T3 than if you do labs before you take Armour. And...with docs being so afraid to dose by symptoms, it can be quite wise to NOT take your Armour before labs in order to have the lowest free T3 you can. As far as the labs you sent, you are VERY underdosed. Your goal, labwise, is to get that free T3 towards the top of the range, if not slightly over. (You don't need the T4 total or the Uptake, by the way. Waste of your money.) No wonder you have felt better raising your dose. ) Even by your labs, you could stand to go up a lot! By the way, before the TSH came into existence, when folks dosed by symptoms, the average MINIMUM optimal dose was 3 grains and higher!! Hope this all helps!! Guest guest
Thanks so much -- I've upped my dose by another grain -- 1/2 in the morning, 1/2 at night -- I aqppreciate you answering my post! > > But now, reading here, it seems that not only should I fast before > > having my blood drawm, I should also avoid certain supplements -- > ??? > > Hi there. Guest guest
Those renegade thoughts have been in my mind for such awhile now -- but I keep hearing dire warnings about becoming too hyperthyroid! Since I have my nice stash of Armour from myrxforless, I would rather just self treat.... but would like to make sure I am on the optimal dose. How do I regulate? Aside from the obvious -- palps, anxiety, feeling too revved, etc...? Can you guys recommend a good book that outlines this? I could maybe get my regular GP to test these for me on occasion... I'm just so tired of doctors either refusing to treat me with Armour, or being expensive divas who are booked for 6 months in advance and don't take insurance. BTW, I have to quickly tell my story -- 7 years ago I was having severe hypo symptoms, but my doc kept saying my labs (meaning TSH) were " on the low side of normal " . He refused to treat (which is really a blessing, synthroid would've been bad news for me). I finally read a little blurb about 's Syndrome -- and found a doc 3 hours away who would see me for it. I was put on a regimen of compounded T3 -- and within 3 months was pregnant -- my husband and I had tried unsuccessfully for 7 years! After my daughter's birth, my T4 went low -- so he switched me to Armour. Then he moved cross- country. Since then I suffered 2 miscarriages, and haven't found a doc I think really knows what they're doing. I know I've been hypo for about a year, but couldn't afford the $200+ doctor visits. My hub got a vasectomy, so I don't have to worry about that anymore; I would just like to feel like my old self again. It's reassuing to see my tests reflect what I intuitively knew; and any advice and support is greatly appreciated! > In a message dated 8/23/2004 3:03:56 PM Eastern Standard Time, > pickleshoeboing@y... writes: > > > > > How soon whould I go back for another set of tests? > > > > why bother to get tests? if you're feeling fine with no hyper symptoms, why > bother? you needed to get your Frees up anyway. > Cindi > > >
