Update on Fred's cataract surgery

Hi All,

I didn't really expect to send another update this soon but things have changed quickly and dramatically. Yesterday Fred's vision was improving. This morning he woke up and it was about the same as last night-not great, but he could read most sign language if we stood in the right light and in the right position. A few minutes after he woke up, Fred used the medicine (eye drops) he was given to use post-op and his vision took a huge dive. Fearing an allergic reaction to the medication, we got an emergency appointment and Fred saw an opthalmologist.

It's a good news/bad news thing. It seems Fred has some bleeding in the eye-normal after surgery-but it formed a small blood clot overnight. The blood clot started to break up at the time he went to use the medication-no connection to the medication itself. The good news is that it should clear up without any treatment. The bad news is that it may take ten days, and Fred can't see much in the meantime. It's pretty hard on him as you can imagine.

Thank you all for your continued prayers and encouragement. We're getting through this all by the grace of God. I gotta tell you, life in the Getz house may not always be fun, but it's rarely boring.

God bless.

Donna,

Please tell Fred that I am pulling for his speedy recovery. Heavens, your

family is just too full of excitement. I know you all have strong faith and

it helps you a great deal. I wish for the Getz family a long time of boredom

and soon! Vicki
