Heck, that would explain it. I'm Irish to the core. All people have to do is

look at me and know I'm Irish... red hair, freckles, very fair skin, green

eys... all tell tale signs.

presumably this is because most redheads are found in scotland [then

ireland and scandinavia] and thyroid

disease is rife in scotland , ireland and scandinavia. so people

with genes for red hair may well have ancestry that increases the

likelihood of thyroid disease.

This resistance to anesthesia I had never heard before! But it is weird.. I

have come awake from an IV Demerol; when they surgically removed my Wisdom

teeth, and I DO go under weird. My body is paralyzed first then I hear all

sorts of commotion as my blood pressure bottoms out! Then I gracefully go

under, but it scares the docs every time the way I go under and I get to

HEAR all of it before the lights go out. I have been told it takes an

unusual amount to out me under as well. But I have the plus of coming out of

it very well. I wake up VERY hungry and perfectly able to eat a full course

meal.

I had an edoscopy done last year and all though I was sedated, I was awake

through the whole thing. The doctor asked me after if I felt like I was awake, I

said yes I knew everything you were doing. He said that explained why I tried to

talk. He was amazed because he used more sedative than usual since it wasn't

hitting me. He was the one who originally told me about it being harder to put

redheads under. Then I read more articles about it.

yes but thats not surprising as they all live in Scotland

apart from me. we are all either blonde with red or copper

highlights or red heads and thyroid disease affects nearly all

the women

Hhmm, my hair used to lighten to a very yellow blonde till about the time I

started with hypoT symptoms. Then the highlighting from sun started to be more

reddish....coppery. Now my hair is a bronze color with red highlights. No more

pale yellow anywhere.

I am a Lithuanian, German, English and ish mix. No other redheads nor red

highlights that I know of.

I'm not resistant to anesthesia but more sensitive to it. Certain local

anesthetics make me act drunk and disoriented. ( and VERY " happy " LOL ) Even the

ones that are supposed to be very short acting, under an hour, last for several

hours with me. Has been true through several dentists. I have unnerved many. LOL

they just gave me 5 shots to numb for veneeres Once I was numb which took a long

time, it wore off fast
