Guest guest
You are not being a cry baby. Ask your dr if there is anything that can be taken for the side effects. Maybe even a tranquilizer or sleeping pill if you aren't sleeping. I will keep you in my prayers. If you don't get a response that you are happy with I would look for a new oncologist. I get chemo every 3 weeks. My first treatment went quite well. I had a little queeziness but over all I was ok. My problem is my second chemo did not go so well. I hurt all over especially my left breast and upper arm (my affected area)I couldn't sit still and felt just awful for the first 24 hours. I spoke to my doctor who told me " just lie down it'll go away in a few days. It's just the chemo. " I'm getting adriamycin and cytoxin. I did all my reading on these drugs and thought I was prepared. Before treatment I get Emend and Kyrtril. At home I take Zofran. I don't know if this is normal. When I talk to my doctor she generally tells me " it's just the chemo. You'll be fine. just rest. " I feel so overwhelmed. My doctor is very nice but I don't know if I should ask her for other meds to help with the side effects or if it's just me that felt so aweful and that I'm just being a cry baby. Guest guest
GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!! YOU ARE NOT BEING A CRYBABY!!!!!!! Shame on anyone who would think that. You are getting hard core chemo - of course it's doing a number on your body - and your emotions. Let me clue you in a bit - the first chemo is always the easiest - side effects tend to accumulate with each treatment. The " jumpiness " you describe is probably from the pre-meds they give to avoid nausea. I couldn't sleep for 3 days after a chemo and I felt like I was jumping off the roof. When I told my onc, he immediately knew what the problem was - a reaction from the anti-nausea meds. He prescribed Ambien to help me sleep. The job of your oncologist is to treat YOU - not just your cancer. She is responsible for lessening all your side effects so that you can tolerate treatment. It is her job to LISTEN to you and then to ACT to deal with your concerns. Just listening and being sympathetic is not good enough. There are meds to counter most side effects we suffer from. If one med doesn't work, ask for another one. That is NOT complaining, it is working with your onc to ensure the quality of your care. You are an important part of your cure. please be honest with your onc about how you feel and what your expectations of her are. You deserve compassionate and comprehensive care. Sometimes, we have to fight for it. Take care, Ann Chemo Hats: www.cjhats.com --------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
I have been on many anti-nausea meds for chronic nausea (unrelated to chemo) Many of the anti nausea meds have neurological side effects. Kyril and Zofran can cause anxiety and insomnia. If you experience uncontrolled movements and twitching, this can be serious. Your doctor should be paying attention to these side effects. In my case I changed to another med. I hope this gets taken care of, that anxious can't sit still feeling is terrible. Hugs, a

The " jumpiness " > you describe is probably from the pre-meds they give to avoid nausea. Oh boy, am I ever in trouble, then!! My second chemo is Thursday. After my first treatment I was " fine " for about two and a half hours, then spent the next four days flat on my back. Couldn't get up except for bathroom. Guest guest
You are not being a baby!!!! The chemo, today is so much stronger than it was even 10 years ago. Insist on measures that will keep you more comfortable. These treatments affect, as you know, every cell in your body. Chemo cannot tell the good from the bad cells! If your oncologist is not taking your concerns seriously it is time for a second opinion. Ruth > > I stared chemo last month. I get chemo every 3 weeks. My first > treatment went quite well. Guest guest
I'm getting the same chemo. They give me aloxi with the chemo treatment. It is a long acting anti nausea drug 2-5 days. Then I take compazine at home to deal with the nausea. I am also taking senna-k something like that for constipation. It works like a charm. It's not just the chemo.... Make your onc. listen to you so they can treat you more thoroughly. hang in there lala --- alivnkickin08751 wrote: > I stared chemo last month. I get chemo every 3 > weeks.
