I am so happy! I had UAE back in Nov and my ins co said they wouldn't pay

for it. I went ahead with it anyway. Filed 1st appeal and was denied. The

IR and myself filed a 2nd appeal. Denied. So I had a friend of mine who is

a personal injury lawyer write a 3rd & final appeal letter for me. Well,

just got notice yesterday, that the ins. co. will pay for the UAE!!!

Hurrah!! I'm so glad. My bills totalled almost $22,000. I have to pay the

IR about $2,600 since he was out of network, but I'd rather pay $2,600

instead of $22,000.

Thanks to the ladies of this board for your helpful suggestions and support.

If anyone else out there has this problem, don't give up--keep fighting.

That is such good news that you were able to get your insurance co. to pay

for the UAE. I am going to have a UAE soon. I don't want to go through this

same thing. Is there any tips you can give me?

My insurance is Blue Cross and Blue Shield. My IR said they may not pay for

the epidural that would be great to eliminate the pain for me. I want to find

out ahead of time if they will pay for that or not. I would like to find this

out even before I make the appointment to have the procedure done.

Wish me luck!

One tip--check before the UAE to make sure Blue Cross & Blue Shield pays for

UAE. In my research, I found most Blue Cross/Blue Shield does pay. I don't

know about the epidural, but you can ask them if they will pay for that too.

I didn't have one, my IR didn't use them. Good luck to you.

Congratulations! It's good to know that sometimes the " little guy "

wins. I don't think most people really know that they can continue to

fight their insurance companies. I know I didn't before I joined this

list. It's really a shame you had to go through that but the outcome

was worth it!

Hi,

You should be able to find out ahead of time. You'll need the procedure number

from the hospital. Just call your insurance and ask, we did.

Hi Kukula!

I called the insurance company today and they said that the epidural is

covered! It is anesthesia and any anesthesia is covered. Whew!
