Guest guest
, I was on Celexa before, only ad that actually helped me without serious side effects. I didn't have VV then to worry about. Are you going to be nursing? I have also taken Cymbalta and hated it. It was also as an ad. I was dead sleepy all of the time. I should note though, that I am super sensitive to meds and even 10mg of amitrypilene makes me tired all day. I had asked for Cymbalta or effexor xr but he said he felt better about Celexa. I have been sitting on the computer for over an hour researching the celexa and think it will help with the depression but not real sure of it's effect on the VV. He said that is know to help with the VV and his hope is between the clexa and the elavil I will get back to where I was before. He is hoping I won't have to be on th elavil for long. I don't know ladies. I was hoping for cymbalta becuase I was hoping for only one pill to help with the depression and the VV. He sad it is new and he would rather not use something so new. I can always go to my other doc but not sure what the hell to do now. I NEED soemthing for the depression as soon a I deliver because I had posrpartum with my first daughter and since I am already so depressed I am sure it will be worse this time. Anyone heard of Celexa helping VV or any experince of it for depression. I was on zoloft it helped but I was still experincing depression. My doc at UofM also said I could try nurotin (s/p?)if I wanted to instead of the elavil. I don't what to do anymore!Any thoughts??Hugs

Guest guest
Hi , I am not sure about Celexa for VV, but I was on it for depression after my mom died. I have no other antidepressants to compare it to as far as efficacy, but I know that after the 2 week period it takes to build up in your system I steadily got better. I wish you the same luck! It wasn't an instant cure, but it was a leg-up. And every day that I began to feel better helped to build momentum toward me being eventually depression-free. When it was prescribed to me, my doc said that for some reason they don't know of yet it seems to be most effective in pre-menopausal women, that was his justification for choosing that particular antidepressant. As far as VV, I just got the surgery 3 weeks ago. I still have pain, but I am hoping that it worked! Congratulations on the baby; I have read accounts of VV spontaneously resolving after childbirth, I hope this is the case for you. Regards, > > Went to doc today and after I deliver he is going to put me on > Celexa, Elavil, and diflucan. I had asked for Cymbalta or effexor xr > but he said he felt better about Celexa. Guest guest
Thanks everyone! I see Doc Hope Hafeaner (s/p?) and Anne Cook at UofM in Michigan. I am going on the diflucan because I have had reaccuring yeast infections with this pg wich is common. Elavil and diflucan has helped me before. After I had my first daughter my VV did go away. I have only had one flare in five years due to a yeast infection after antiboitc for dental work. It lasted about two months and then was pain free agian for over a year. I am really hoping that it goes away again but want a plan in case it doesn't. I haven't been this bad since it all started in 1996. Damn yeast creams! What makes me so mad is I knew better! BLAA I was trying to do what was best for the baby by not taking diflucan and really messed myself up. Anywho I hope this all works. I have two more weeks till my due date. I really hope this little girl is my miracle! Hugs to all!
Guest guest
Hugs to you . Ten years ago I was given Paxil for anxiety and had bad weight gain. I switched to Celexa 6 years ago (again for anxiety) but I've had vv for 4 years and Celexa doesn't seem to be helping in that area. For vv and general vulvar pain, I've been on Desipramine (in the amytript. family). That has helped with the general vulvar pain. I took Neurontin for a while and that did nothing. I've also been given Diflucan more times than I can count. 3 months ago my Dr determined I had candida glabrata (which is immune to Diflucan) and did boric acid capsules for 10 days. I think the bacteria and yeast are currently in balance for me (knock on wood!). Guest guest
Do you like your doc?? I work at the university of michigan so I am in their HMO, and when I was first diagnosed Dr. and Dr. Haefner were not taking new patients, so I spent alot of time with a doc that worked for a year with Dr. , she just prescribed lots of drugs that didn't work, then I asked to be referred to Dr. , who prescribed Lidocaine and PT before going on a YEAR long leave, and so I was left to another fluncky who sees her patients twice a month, the lidocaine really hasn't helped and it took 6 months to get approval for the PT, when I suggest surgery that all just make it sound like I'm nuts to suggest it, but its been four years, I havn't responded in the least to anything, and my highly localized pain has actually gotten worse,it used to never bother the lips and now it does, and everything I read says that the longer you have this problem the less likely it is that surgery will be effective and that it is best for localized vestibulitis, so this waiting game might make me a less than ideal candidate for surgery which is more and more feeling like my only real chance at relief...so if PT doesn't work, I want to be referred to Haefner since I know she does the surgery, though the doc will probably say that surgery is extreme and I should try another antidepressant...FUN...Anne Quoting peachescream752 : > Thanks everyone! Guest guest
Ann Well lets just say that her bed side manner could use some work but other than that she is good. She even called me from her cell phone last week to see how I was doing and give me my test results. I LOVE Anne Cook! She wasn't in when I went last month though. I would see if you coul dget in with dr. Haefner it can't hurt and may help! Hugs
