Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Good Luck, I will be praying for . He has had it pretty tough. He is such a special boy. I hope this is the last hard thing he has to go through for a long time. I also hope he recovers completely and quickly. Please keep us informed. Ken M > To Jodi and all others: > > Yes, our will be going in for back surgery Wed. (Jan 9th) for his congenital scoliosis. This is major surgery for him to go thru. He'll be in surgery for 3-4 hours - they're fusing his spine and putting in a rod to help get some correction out of the scoliosis. After surgery he'll go right to ICU and spend the night, then hopefully Thurs. he'll be admitted to a floor for 6-7 days for recovery. He'll be in a full body cast after > surgery for 3-4 months to keep him immobile to stabilize his spine. Then afterwards hopefully just a brace to keep the spine stable while it continues healing. He's been battling bronchitis for 3 weeks and we honestly didn't know until today if it would be a go or not. Today was his preop day and he past so we're on for Wed. We are very scared, nervous, anxious, etc., etc., etc., but it's something he needs. His spine is curving at a > rapid rate and we need to do something now to prevent other bad things from happening down the road. Please have your hopes and prayers with us on this one. > > Jodi, thanks so much for your post. I haven't posted much cause honestly I think I've been doing more crying than anything else putting my child thru all this. There hasn't been much " Happy " in my New Year yet. For those of you that know know that he is also deaf and of course the RSS. It seems like we fix one thing then break another. He's is eating well and growing well for RSS standards and with the introduction of sign > language is finally able to communicate with us. His auditory skills are still not there even with the use of his cochlear implant, but at least we have signing to use a tool to communicate. And of course, he's a triplet which compounds things a bit more. and are doing well but it will be tough for them to get thru this back surgery. We'll be spending lots of time with in the hospital and they'll be wondering > where Mom and Dad are a lot and when will be coming home. > > Please wish us well and we'll talk to you after his surgery. > > Cheryl
