Guest guest
I don't have the numbness, but I did get the chills on Friday night as you describe. My jaw seized up, chattering, and I was shaking as you might if you had the flu. It also happened to be very cold in my apt (heat had gone off for the night) but I attribute it to the anemia. I was cold this weekend at my b.f.'s apt. even when he put the heat on. Jan > After a very bad cycle, I find myself having chills (no fever) and numbness, mainly in my arms. Guest guest
Dear Group, I experienced arm numbness as well. It's been awhile since I have had that symptom, but I have experienced it. Pam
Guest guest
A new generic form of prilosec. I take prilosec because the iron upsets my stomach and they were worried about me bleeding in my stomach, like I need more blood loss. This generic now causes direhha. Not fun after losing fluids anyways. MLic975220@... wrote:Kukalaka: What kind of a new generic medicine did you take? Pain reliever?? What. Guest guest
This is exactly how I felt. No fever, but chills even with the heat on. It's really terrible. I guess I've still not got this anemia in hand. What a fight when you're a bleeder. Thanks for the reply. bluecabochon wrote: I don't have the numbness, but I did get the chills on Friday night as you describe. Guest guest
I am amazed to hear that others are having arm numbness. I have had the same thing... never associated it to my monthly cycle but I will keep note of it from now on. I am also interested in knowing if a uterus will shrink back to normal after myo. I'm glad you're bringing this up lovely Kukakala teddy bear. I've been waking up with totally dead hands lately. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndroom 1.5 year ago which gave me sensations of electrical currents in my fingers and numbness. But what I feel now is just numbness in my hands and lower arms, would it be connected? And I've been feeling very cold too but put it down to temperatures dropping in autumn here after a long very hot summer, and having a slightly heavier period. Sorry to hear about your fluid loss and bad cycle, wish I could give you some more words of wisdom and support. Rosemary oil in a bath makes you warm, not too much though, it can burn your skin. Ginger tea can help too. My thoughts are with you. Margo
Guest guest
Hi Margo, I'd check for anemia if I were you. I got the carpal tunnel diagnosis too because I work with computers but my left arm bothers me more than my right which doesn't make sense because I'm right handed. Besides, I've been numb all over including my face and it always happens after a heavy bleed. That's why I wanted to question the women here. I'm thinking it's the anemia. Why would carpal tunnel get worse after a heavy bleed? The top of my head is numb now. It's strange feeling. I've been so weak after this cycle. With my stomach tore up, I'm wondering if I'm bleeding inside my stomach. I go to my GP to test my anemia Wednesday. I'm going to try and get an iron percription easier for my stomach to handle. I find myself wanting to skip the iron to advoid the stomach aches. A real catch 22. I'm going to see if the doc can help with this generic version of stomach meds. I want my real prilosec back and I shouldn't have to pay extra because I did try the generic. I finally got a saline sono scheduled for next Wednesday. I had to make a promise of not to try to get preggie, with this bleeding, no problem. It took davoid getavoidappointment. Then it's back to thr RE (2 weeks later) and hopefully I'll get a date for surgery. I'm numb, cold, tired, weak, naucious and have a belly ache and they call this tumor benign. Benign my a**! This is a long hard road, through rock and muck! Check for the anemia. I can't repeat this enough! It would explain why you're feeling cold too. We're going into Spring now but it's still cold out. But I'm having chills in a heated waterbed with lots of covers. I'm thinking big loss of blood, anemia. This anemia is a real monster. I've been to the ER twice with it already. I fell on Xmas Eve and besides some of the most colorful brusing you've ever saw, I broke all my fingernails. Not the tops, I broke them half way up because of the anemia. Try doing anything with the top half your fingernails missing on your right hand. It's another new experience, to live without having. Take that slow release iron. It can take up to a year to get all your iron stores built back up but you'll feel better sooner than that. So keep taking it. I'll try the Rosemary oil and tea. It sounds relaxing. Thanks for the suggestion! You check on the anemia! LOL means Laughing out loud. Some here use it to mean ladies of list, they need another one for this. LOL is taken. LOL! <laughing> Love ya! margo van der voort wrote: > After a very bad cycle, I find myself having chills (no fever) and numbness, mainly in my arms. I took a new generic med which gave me direha. Guest guest
Kukalaka: One of the symptoms of anemia IS numbness and pins and needles in the extremeties. Here are some of the symptoms of anemia: considerable weakness; palpitation; tongue is flabby, pale or sore; hair is lusterless. In some cases jaundice, numbness of limbs, thirst, poor memory, spoon-shaped (concave) fingernails and finally, shock. My problem is the poor memory...mercifully it isn't early onset dementia!! (smile) Hope this clears things up for you. Rhonda
Guest guest
Hi Sue, I am so sorry for your diagnosis of PLS. It's no fun, but you've come to the right place for support, information, and a few laughs. I just love the group, and have been part of it for over 4 years. I was diagnosed with PLS in 9/99, and have progressed slowly. and have just started to use a cane. I do have some bladder problems, such as urgency and occasional incontinence (due to the fact that I can't get there very fast.) I also have a lot of lower back pain & stiffness, plus pain in my right hip. I think the pain is from the way I swing my legs outward when I walk. I walk with quite a limp also, and suffer from fatigue. Other than that, I feel great!!!! Welcome again, and let us know how your symptoms are. Hugs, Laurel from Iowa Symptoms I have recently been diagnosed with PLS (but have had the Symptom's for several years). Two questions. The information I read on the PLS internet sites say bladder control is not a side affect of PLS. But I see in a lot of the PLSGroup messages mention of bladder problems. Would say it is a side affect - or is that another issue entirely? The other question: I also read that pain is not common. I have had pain in my left (weaker side) calf for about a week. Nothing helps (aspirin or heat pads). No cause for it that I can think of, I didn't strain it or bump it. Do any of you find such pains common? Guest guest
Hi Sue, I have PLS and I have pain. I take Celebrex for it and it may alleviate the pain but does not take it away. I use a heating pad and it helps a little. I went to a rheumatologist and he wants to give me cortisone shots. I told him I would get back to him. I went to physical therapy and it helped a little. I am now trying something new, LDN. I will begin on this soon. That's my story. Hope it helps.
