Guest guest
And oh Emese, I WAS SERIOUSLY WANTING TO DO THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD. SO MUCH SO THAT i GOT A QUOTE FROM "AAA" for Airfare to Melbourne, which is the closest airport to the GOR, and fly out of Surfers Paradise. Since the meeting/gathering is in Surfers P. It would be one long drive back to fly out of Melbourne, about 4 days at least. So anyhow, I did extensive research on the GOR, it looks fabulous, I even talked to a hotel owner in Lorne via email. Well, airfare from the USA would be $2800 (minimum) for 1 ticket, that is in USD. Now I have met a lot of these crewbies at aldacons ( http://alda.org ) since 1996, and vegas, and many don't even drive. I darn lucky I'm still driving and working and not living on govt assistance, and have a husband to help me out ifneeded. So unless you have about $5000 and 3 weeks, the great ocean road and the oz venture together is unrealistic. Just my 2 cents, been getting prices from lots of sources last 2 weeks. I bet the no oz goers are getting a kick out of this, or maybe just getting sick. Wake up Dahlink, Sydney is a big place and has more than just the shoddy boring Harbour and if I can walk around a town or place then any non-paralyzed person can. Marcus I have NF2 you moron so I think I do know what it involves :-)!!!!!!!!! I think the Great Ocean Road idea is just brilliant. The only way to meet Australians is to get out of the tourist zones because otherwise all you meet are other foreigners. And the Crocodile "hunter" is such a LOSER!!!!!!!! Please don't line this idiot's pockets any further. If you want to see Aussie animals in their natural state the best places are Kangaroo Island and Island. The dingoes on Fraser are feral (as are all dingoes for that matter). Kisses to you you boring old man!!!!!!!!!!!!! And P.S. I'm not going in June so you're all safe.
