Kim, I skipped one thing in my reply. Fair reason meaning " some

peace of mind. " I honestly do not know if showing positive for UPD#7

means that you would have higher chances for having another RSS

child? But I can tell you that if you are negative for UPD#7, as

long as you are not RSS (or extremely small-statured), the chance of

you having another RSS child are probably the same as any other

mother - 1 in 50,000 to 1 in 100,000. Out of 500+ RSS families, I

know of two families who have two RSS children -- Donna Klamer in

this listserve (two girls born 9 years apart) and Walbridge

(two girls of different fathers born I believe 7 years apart or so).

There was also a mom with identical twin girls that they thought were

RSS but they found out it was something different (then again, duh!!!

Identical means identical genes....)

There have also been cases of RSS in IDENTICAL twins, where one twin

has RSS and the other doesn't. I don't know of any cases where

identical twins both have RSS.

There are 2 ways genetic mutations can occur - before conception

(already there in mum's or dad's chromosomes), and AFTER conception,

in utero, which would be the case with the identical twins. But

since in most cases we don't even know if RSS is a genetic problem or

not, this is not much help.

Hi Steph,

There was a woman the list who has identical twin daughters both with

RSS. Her name is Le Munn and she lives in So. Calif.

Also, there is a family on the list with tripletts and one of her boys

has RSS.

Just thought I'd provide this little bit of background info.

And we discovered that all the multiples were conceived via in-vitro

fertilization which makes you wonder what happened at conception???

Colin (RSS) and Hayden - 12 mo. twins
