Good for you Diane..... ;)

Yes the mind is a very powerful thing indeed!!! I've read of stories of multiple personalities.. where even the eye color has changed or vision where one needed glasses and blind as a bat and other with perfect vision. Now figure that one out!! Imagine a real physical change that can take place. WOW pretty awesome eh? ;)

Keep at it hon.

Thanks for sharing that Diane :)

I hope you are still feeling better and that was only

a small flare.

I've found that " imagining myself well " does help.

The other night I was feeling kind of sore and started

to tell myself that I did not feel any pain over and

over in my head and it did make me feel better and

eventually it took my mind off of it and the pain

stopped completely. :)

You're right - as hard as it is sometimes we need to

keep our spirits up and know that we will get better.

Best of luck to all of us ladies working to get well.

Yes I am still feeling better. But I did more than try to imaagine

myself well I used EFT techniques that Tom introduced me to. That is

what really helped me this time.

Great post Diane, Can you please share more on EFT? Glad it is helping you at least to the point where you can be hopeful. Love, Sandi

I've been down this road of trying so hard to find something to

help me not hurt so much and that includes trying hard not to

think about my pain at the same time that I am trying to find

the thing that I think will help my pain (yep, the trying

everything that we can to make ourselves well). What I found

after a while when I did stuff like this is that I ended up

hurting more.

I later discovered that the reason I was hurting more when I

would do these types of things is that I was trying too hard.

Which is why my body was rebelling against me.

The minute I started to accept that this was the way it was and

quit trying so hard then my pain started easing up.

I know you are thinking Diane that I mean that I gave up when I

say the word " accept " and no that's not what I mean.

Here's something from an article that talked about chronic

illness " accepting your illness is no failure, but it means

'advancing in a new direction' " .

My vulvodynia has taken me in a new direction which means that I

have to do certain things for it like with my other illnesses in

order to keep it in check.

But my point for this is that sometimes trying too hard to wish

yourself well can sometimes make one sicker instead of better.

Point being: everyone is different.

Kristy :)

Is this the EFT you are talking about?

http://www.emofree.com/

I have heard that it is VERY helpful. I have also been told that

EMDR is helpful for chronic pain:

http://www.emdr.com/somatoform.htm

I am getting trained in EMDR next summer so I can use it in private

practice and I know a little bit about it. I have heard that it can

reduce the emotional impact of the trauma of pain, which would

hopefully reduce the pain experience overall. I have found that the

healing CDs from IMADULATION:

http://www.imadulation.com

are incredibly helpful. I am happy to say that between the elavil,

acyclovir, CDs, changes in lifestyle (reduced stress and exposure to

chemicals) I am feeling a lot better. My flare-ups are less intense

and of shorter duration.

Kristy,

I have no desire to dispute what you are saying. But you could not

be missing my point more.

First,

I am not healed by EFT or anything else. I do feel that EFT has

HELPED me tremendously. I am dealing with this illness much, much

better. I feel happier even if I have some nights in terrible pain.

SEcond,

I truly believe in my heart and from all the reading I've done over

many years (not to do with this condition which I have had for a

year) that thinking and imagining a positive outcome is important.

Third,

I know the pain that hoping and wishing for something, whether it be

a healing, a promotion, a new love, and not getting what you wish

for can bring. You are afraid to hope anymore. I understand that.

But please don't deny me my hope or anyone elses. Maybe if we all

hope and pray together something wonderful will happen.

OK that may sound a bit sappy (or maybe a lot) but I am a believer

and I choose to take that course. I have been disappointed many

times in my life as I'm sure many of us have. And you know,

EFT can help us with that if we use it. I've been workin' it and it

has helped me a lot.

Best wishes to you and everyone else.

Diane,

I'm not missing your point. You have come off as being healed

in the short time you have done the EFT but thank you for

clarifying that point any way just in case I did miss the point.

But I'm glad that you think and feel that the EFT is helping you

so far.

No one is denying you your hope, I'm just showing everyone that

there is more than one side to the issue of trying to hope for

something. B/c I hoped very hard as well. Just b/c things have

gone in a different direction for me doesn't mean that I don't

hope a little (which I do have a little thanks to something I

read that may tell me more about my own condition). Whether or

not I can have the test I read about in the future is another

story that remains to be seen.

But as I said it's wonderful that you feel good with the EFT but

as for it helping everyone that uses it, well, everyone is

different.

I wish you well.

Kristy :)
