Guest guest
Hello, Im gonna try to be fast. I havnt been on a couple of weeks and I have tons of mail. I also have Lyme. I went to a Lyme specialist 2 weeks ago today. She kept me on amoxicillin (I got from family care dr. because I couldnt tolerate doxy.)and she added 3 " meds " that I purchased at her office. Liquid Cats Claw ( cant be just any cats claw I have some info. on it the dr. gave me) If I get time in the next couple of days I'll type out everything important i got from her. B-12 that I stick under my tounge that melts ( It doesnt tast bad) and Magnesium 160 mg. 4x a day. It all cost me $77 but I want to tell you with in a week I went down 60mg. of moriphin yay. Thats been a blessing. I HATE pain meds. and I was up to 8 a day and still suffering. now im down to 6 and its ok. Thats just 1 week. im really optimistic. From the stuff she gave me it says to stay on this for 8-12 months to get rid of all those little bugers. i have had a set back though. Ive narrowed it down to the cats claw. It makes me very nauses. I noticed with in 5 days I had already went through die off. which is when I felt the effects of the neuro-toxins that the bacteria gives off when it dies. So im having a problem currently keeping up the doses I need to be on due to nausea. Ahhh I'll type it out (the parts I high lighted) hek here is the paper my Lyme dr. gave me: Feature Article: Lyme Disease: Nutraceutical Breakthrough Using TOA-Free Cats Claw Experimental Group 100% of patients experienced marked clinical improvment; 85% were seronegative for Lyme disease at the end of the study. Pentacyclic Alkaloid Chemotype Uncaria tomentosa, also known as TOA-Free Cats Claw, is a rare chemotype of a medicinal plant commonly known as Cats Claw, botanical name Uncaria tomentosa. Unlike traditional Cats Claw products, this chemotype does not contain a group of chemical antagonist called tetacyclic oxindole alkaloids (TOAs) that act upon the central nervous system and can greatly inhibit the positive effect of the pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs) " Im skipping aROUND TO THE NEXT HIGH LIGHTED AREA, I cant type out everything today " ~ How Pentacyclic Alkaloid Chemotype Uncaria tomentosa May Eliminate the Pathogen: The latest research on Bb show that it exsist in at least three different forms: the spirochete, the spheroplast (also known as L-form), and the cyst. During the course of infection, Bb can shift among these three forms, converting from the spirochete form to the other when presented with an unfavorable environment (antibiotics, changes in pH of body fluids in chronic inflammation, ect.), and reverting back to the spirochete form to grow and reproduce upon being released from naturally aging and dying infected cells. It is during the growth period after re-conversion to the spirochete form, as well as in adult spirochete form, that Bb is most vulnerable and susceptible to antibiotics and natural elimination by the body's immune system. THE SEVERITY OF LYME Presentation is directly related to the spirochete load: low loads result in mild or even asymptomatic infections. With increased spirochete load from subsequent repeated infections and/or reactivated dormant infections, the severity of the disease increases. Higher loads also impair key cells of the immune system and modify the immune response, thus making the immune system unable to fight the pathogen. The negative effects on the immune system increase the longer the spirochetes are present. To prevail in the effort to fight Lyme disease, it is necessary to not only restore the immune system to normal functioning, but to boost it as well. Even a normal functioning immune system is unable to attack and eliminate Bb in all its forms. The results of research on TOA-free Chemotype Cats Claw demonstrate its powerful immune system modulating and stimulating properties, along with pronounced anti inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti infectious effects. The diverse spectrum of the biological, activities of TOA-free Chemotype Cats Claw is due to its biologically active compounds. The pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs) contain in this chemotype are generally accepted as the principal immunomodulating and immunostimulating agents.POAs are actively involved in the repAIR OF many elements and functional mechanisms of both the innate and acquired immunity damage by Bb and other co-infections, assisting in restoration of structural and functional integrity of the immune system , enhancing its ability to eliminate the pathogens in a natural way. In addition, this Chemotype contains quinovic acid glycosides-compounds with strong natural antibiotic properties (the latest generations of conventional synthetic antibiotics, " Quinolones " , are based on quinovic acid glycosides), which further enhance the medicinal effect of TOA-free Chemotype Cats Claw in fighting the infection. Considering the life span of intracellular forms of Bb equivalent to the life span of the cells invaded by these forms, they are cinstantly released into the surrounding environment upon natural cell death and destruction. The release of intrcellular forms of Bb is gradual over time due to the various life spans of various invaded cells. Since about 90% of these forms reside in various cells (including all blood cells) which have a life span of 2-3 weeks to 6-8 months, it may be assumed that with in a 6-8 month period, a significant majority of all intracellular forms of Bb will be released into the environment where they can be successfully attacked by properly functioning immune system and a natural powerful antibiotic. Continous use of TOA-free Chemotype Cats Claw over a period of time consistent with the life span of several generations of various infected cells (8-12 months), would more likely result in gradual killing and elimintaing of Bb and co-existing infectious pathogens, with subsequent reduction of infection loads in the body and restoration of the persons health. Ok this is all I can type my carpul tunnel is acting up. This was given to me with a Article: Break throughs in Lyme Disease. I also wanted to say last fri. I didnt take any of the meds. and that night my pain was through the roof. so it appears at this stage if I dont take it my body relapses. This Cats Claw is a liquid I put in 5 drops in a small cup of water raising the drops every three days. When I go through die off I have to lessen thecats claw. It seems it would be good for not just Lyme patients but, anyone who has immune system problems. I paid $30 for a small bottle. It will last a couple of months she sais. Since you only use drops of it. I also had blood work done. im not sure what but, they said I need to come in. I have an apt. to go back to the Lyme specialist tues. :)Tami --- sarah devore wrote: > this isnt my personal story,,,,I was just sharing > someting I found. Guest guest
Hey, I just got tested for lyme today, although my family doc really wasn't at all convinced by my list of symptoms. He said he also wanted to have a more general test to detect inflammation and I said ok. He normally just did the ELISA test but I kept insisting that I wanted the Western Blot too so he called the lab and they said it was ok to go ahead an do both tests at the same time. But, he told me it would be very expensive... how expensive, just curious? So, we'll see and then I can stop worrying about this if I don't need to. : ) Re: possible lyme and genital pain story....SHERRI Hello,Im gonna try to be fast. Guest guest
He was polite but by the way he left in a hurry I think he was a little offended so I didn't ask him which lab... Since IGenex is a specialty lab (doing Lyme and related co-infection tests is the ONLY thing they do) and testing with them requires a special kit, i'd say that it's pretty clear it's NOT going to them. If your test results come back negative, you could always consider a second test with IGenex. They really are the best and most reliable lab in the country for these serum tests. Guest guest
I'm not sure which lab they are using. I think maybe I offended the doc a little because I came in with a written list of my symptoms and kept insisting I get tested for lyme. I got the impression he didn't know a whole lot about the tests. I asked him if the test was the ELISA or Western Blot and he said he didn't know, he'd have to ask the folks at the lab. He called the lab and came back in and said the initial test they usually gave for lyme was the ELISA and then if the ELISA results were positive they ran the Western Blot. I begged him to have both at the same time and told him I'd heard that lots of people with Lyme tested negative with the ELISA and positive with the Western Blot. He asked the lab folks and they said I could go ahead and do both at the same time. He was polite but by the way he left in a hurry I think he was a little offended so I didn't ask him which lab... Guest guest
The two Wester Blots from Igenex are either $85.00 or $95 each, as I recall. You can submit to your insurance and they may reimburse at least part of it - especially if you have a PPO. > > Hi : > > > > Which antibiotic are you taking? Guest guest
I agree with Hollis - doesn't sound like Igenex at all. In fact it sound an awful lot like Quest Diagnostics, which is a good lab overall but NOT for Lyme. I am very proud of you to request the Western Blots and confront the Dr. with your information even though he was uncomfortable. It's your health. Congratulations! Guest guest
hmmm... I don't know. I'm in SC and the closest regional office for Quest Diagnostics is in GA. LabCorp has a regional office in NC... would that be a determining factor? I probably should have pressed that issue but... are the other labs really that bad? I'm just wondering... has anyone been diagnosed positively that you know by one of the other labs...other than Igenex I mean? Guest guest
So, what do you think of this? http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00038469.htm Notice to Readers Recommendations for Test Performance and Interpretation from the Second National Conference on Serologic Diagnosis of Lyme Disease The Association of State and Territorial Public Health Laboratory Directors, CDC, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, and the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards cosponsored the Second National Conference on Serologic Diagnosis of Lyme Disease held October 27-29, 1994. Conference recommendations were grouped into four categories: 1) serologic test performance and interpretation, 2) quality-assurance practices, 3) new test evaluation and clearance, and 4) communication of developments in Lyme disease (LD) testing. This report presents recommendations for serologic test performance and interpretation, which included substantial changes in the recommended tests and their interpretation for the serodiagnosis of LD. A two-test approach for active disease and for previous infection using a sensitive enzyme immunoassay (EIA) or immunofluorescent assay (IFA) followed by a Western immunoblot was the algorithm of choice. All specimens positive or equivocal by a sensitive EIA or IFA should be tested by a standardized Western immunoblot. Specimens negative by a sensitive EIA or IFA need not be tested further. When Western immunoblot is used during the first 4 weeks of disease onset (early LD), both immuno- globulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) procedures should be performed. A positive IgM test result alone is not recommended for use in determining active disease in persons with illness greater than 1 month's duration because the likelihood of a false-positive test result for a current infection is high for these persons. If a patient with suspected early LD has a negative serology, serologic evidence of infection is best obtained by testing of paired acute- and convalescent-phase serum samples. Serum samples from persons with disseminated or late-stage LD almost always have a strong IgG response to Borrelia burgdorferi antigens. It was recommended that an IgM immunoblot be considered positive if two of the following three bands are present: 24 kDa (OspC) * , 39 kDa (BmpA), and 41 kDa (Fla) (1). It was further recommended that an that IgG immunoblot be considered positive if five of the following 10 bands are present: 18 kDa, 21 kDa (OspC) *, 28 kDa, 30 kDa, 39 kDa (BmpA), 41 kDa (Fla), 45 kDa, 58 kDa (not GroEL), 66 kDa, and 93 kDa (2). The details of both plenary sessions and the work group deliberations are included in the publication of the proceedings, which is available from the Association of State and Territorial Public Health Laboratory Directors; telephone . The 24 kDa and 21 kDa proteins referred to are the same.
Guest guest
Hello, If he refuses to help I'd suggest to find another dr. My Dr. didnt believe I should be tested either. He said my symptoms matched 300 other diseases. Which is true but, I do have Lyme and found out 3 months ago. I had my first test done through Quest which was negative. I then pushed for IGenex and was able to get tested their. IGenex is the best for Lyme. When I called the Michigan Lyme 1-800 # and I also talked to Lynda my moderator on the Lyme support group she said IGenex is the best to test for Lyme because they test for more bands than all the other labs. I'll ask her again because it was a couple of months ago when she told me why IGenex was the place to go to be tested for Lyme. Of course my memory is bad. Thank God im getting treatment because Ive been able to cut back my pain meds. which is GREAT. Im functioning better after only 2 weeks on the new meds. So im hopeful that I'll get much better by next summer. Guest guest
Thanks, I appreciate that. I'll see what these test results say and if they are negative I think I'll do that. Has anyone just started taking the Cat's Claw on their own.. does it work? Re: possible lyme and genital pain story....SHERRI Hello,I actually talked to Dr at IGenex he's the Owner and President. Guest guest
Hello, One more thing lol I dont know which state you live in but also gave me more drs. to choose from who were Lyme literate. Dr. gave me 3 and 2 were really far and 1 had a 1 year waiting list. So actually got me a Lyme dr. 2 miles from home and I got right in. She is also very knowledgeable about Lyme and the testing. I cant remember off hand but she did tell me why IGenex was better then say Quest or any other lab. Im actually waiting to here from her so I can write it down lol My memory is shot *smile* Call at the Michigan Lyme Disease Association 1-888-784-LYME > > > > Hi : > > > > > > > > Which antibiotic are you taking? Guest guest
HI .. I certainly don't know that much about Lyme as someone who would have it, but I personally thought that last article you sent on how to read those tests from the CDC was excellent and the importance if it's a new infection or an older one. Thank you again. Dee~ PS I did see it was dated August 11, 1995, and just wonder if others feel it's still as valid? ----- Original Message ----- From: Berry Home So, what do you think of this? http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00038469.htm
