Oh, definitely bring the guys.... they are part of this and maybe the get-to-gether would help them out as well. Always nice to meet others that have been through this. I know therapy is available to them as well, but I wonder how many use it? I say I don't have time for a support group (which is why I am on-line and not going somewhere -- besides, this is 24/7, regular support group in once a week at most) but I'm sure dh would say he has even less time between work and taking care of me. He might like to talk to other men/women whose significant others are going through this.

Re: BARB and all

Sounds like you are going on an RV trip. There are some good places to stay in the Sevierville area. Sounds good to me. We don't have an RV, but my husband would like to come as well. Let's just bring our guys with us. They are part of us too. ren

Barb, thanks for the note. I was once where you are. Keep that chin up and

a positive thought in your head. That is sooooo important girl.

OH, by the way. I just have to tell all you ladies about an encounter that

I had yesterday. There is a huge flea market here in Nashville that takes

place every month. It is one of the biggest and best around. For months I

have noticed that there is a booth that sells wigs and the same lady is

there every week. Yesterday my hubby and I decided to stop and look at her

wigs thinking that I might buy an extra one for our trip in July. I had

worn my usual " do-rag " to the market. She tried several on me and after

deciding that none of her selection were for me I excused myself and told

her thank you but that I didn't see one that I cared for for me. She took

offense that a purchase was not going to go down and informed me that I

really should wear " hair " to go out in public if not for my husband. Boy

did that hit me the wrong way! I spun around and informed her that I didn

t care one diddly how the public were effected by my bald head...even tho it

was covered. I told her that I didn't go bald to please or displease the

public and that I refused to be ashamed of the leftovers of cancer!! She

then said... " well what about your husband here. " I stated that if my

husband found it embarrasing or found it difficult to love me and respect me

as a bald woman then he and I would discuss it in privacy and not at a wig

stand in the flea market!! My hubby then told her a thing or two about

love and respect and we left with our heads held high.... and still bald!!

I hope that woman is ashamed of herself!!

Good for you, Trisha!!! I hope the last few treatments breeze by and you

have a GREAT time on your trip. We will all be here drooling, but also know

our time will come. So glad things are going well for you.

A lot of you have asked me for a report on " me " ... (blushing) so here it

is

I am doing great, except for the good sized treatment area which is burned

on my left side. The radiation has made my surgery scars hard and very

painful. (auxiliary scar in my armpit and tumor removal scar on the left

of

my breast itself.) The radiation concentrates itself mostly in the folds

of

the skin and the auxiliary scar is deep and has made it's own fold so it

has

taken the brunt of the radiation. I also have a good sized area under my

breast that is pretty burnt and peeling and very tender. I only have 7

more

treatments to go.... Hallelujah!

The radiation has not left me as tired as the chemotherapy, thank goodness

but I am still not 100%. It has been a long uphill road but I am nearing

the end of this battle and within the year will hopefully be back to where

I

was before November of last year when this all began.

I have a light covering of hair on my head now and it is growing by leaps

and bounds. I can't keep my hands off my head as I love feeling the " fuzz "

that is residing up there.

I am so lucky to have my Bill by my side. A very caring and helpful man

that has sweetly walked with me every step of the way. I also have had all

of you with me and I am so appreciative of that too. God bless you all!

When I finish my radiation on the 30th of June, Bill and I will be heading

out the following week to go on an RV adventure. We are heading to Maine

for an RV rally and then off to unknown parts of the good ole USA. We plan

to be gone at least 3 weeks and perhaps even longer. We will load ole

Smudge up and the three of us will just follow our noses after the rally.

Smooches to all of you. Thanks for your blessings and prayers.
