Guest guest
I had this salad and it was pretty small with very little lettuce. I knowthey are being trained on portion size, but I'm still a little leery aboutthis. It did taste ok though. Jenn . . . Given our different reactions to the size of this salad, do you suppose the various Applebee's are serving different amounts to us? I have a pretty large appetite, so for me to say that a salad is good-sized is really something. And it really was quite large!! Yet you say the one you received was small. How odd! If they are indeed serving different amounts, then the points values aren't going to be reliable either. Major bummer!!!! Bette
Guest guest
Jenn, Yes, I would guess that the onion soup bowl size is pretty constant. But my salad was WAY bigger than Mc's! ... so there must be some difference in the size of plate they use. Mine was about 12 inches in diameter, and pretty much filled with salad. As I mentioned, my guess on the chicken was closer to 4 ounces, which would make the salad more like 5 points counting the ranch BBQ dressing they use... Here's another thing I noticed.... I ordered the choc-rasp cake, which was heavenly. When it came, my 23-yo son liked the look of it, so he ordered a piece as well even though he's not on WW. My piece had considerably more of the rasp. sauce than his did! So see....there are very likely going to be slight discrepancies in points values. Because of that, when I go again I will probably adjust the points amount a bit (my meaning: if they say 4 points but it "looks" like 5, I'll count it as 5). Oh well. I guess we can't expect it to be perfect. It WAS good! Bette

I don't know if you ever eat Mc's salads, but mine at Applebee's was smaller than that. If it was just a difference in the amount of lettuce (which Mc's sometimes is even within the same restaurant from day to day) at least that wouldn't change the point value. I forgot to mention in my first post that I had the onion soup as well and boy, was that good! Due to the size of the bowl on that, I would assume the portion size is constant. What do you think? Guest guest
I had the chicken mesquite salad a week or so ago. I would say my portion was not large. It was ok in size. I would have preferred it to be a bit bigger considering it was my entree. It did, however, leave me with room to split a dessert with my husband. Guest guest
Well no matter what, point values aren't going to be perfect from meal to meal, no matter what. Really we use them as a guideline. I don't think it's something you should worry about too much. Just enjoy yourself, eat a variety of healthy foods, journal every day, and let it go when you have eaten out. (Note I am NOT saying "let go of making good choices" or "let go of journaling" but just go with the information you have available, journal that meal, and let it go...if it's off, it's off.) One meal in a month isn't going to make or break your program. I'm looking forward to trying out a meal there, no matter what. I have had the grilled Talipia with mango salsa (I LOOOOOVE mango salsa) and loved it! -----Original Message-----From: mousikos@... Guest guest
Can you tell me what else is in the salad besides chicken? I can't eat certain veggies and just wondered what the other items are. Thanks. Re: Applebee's / Jenn I had the chicken mesquite salad a week or so ago. I would say my portion was not large. It was ok in size. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, If you go to their website http://www.applebees.com/ you can click on the ww menu and it will give you all the details. The Mesquite Chicken salad is made with grilled mesquite-seasoned chicken breast tossed with mixed greens, tomatoes, corn, black beans, peppers, and red onions. Tossed in a spicy barbecue ranch dressing. (4 points) The Grilled Citrus Chicken Salad is chicken, romaine lettuce, juicy orange slices, celery, and green onions are tossed with a citrus vinaigrette dressing and accented with a wedge of lemon for an invigorating squeeze. Topped with a spicy mango salsa. (5 points) Hope that helps! Maureen Re: Applebee's / Jenn I had the chicken mesquite salad a week or so ago. I would say my portion was not large. It was ok in size.
