Is the histamine test I was recommended to get taken from the skin biopsy test a separate test from the METHYL histamine test -- or are they one and the same? I had also heard about a serum histamine test -- is that the same as the METHYL histamine test? One of the allergists I went to " poo pooed the serum histamine test as not being accurate. Guest guest Posted December 30, 2001 Report Share Posted December 30, 2001 Molly, The METHYL histamine test is a 24 hour URINE test. There are more than one kind of urine histamine tests. The 24-hour METHYL urine test is the one they use to detect masto, so I suspect it is more sensitive than the others. As explained, though, even that one depends on where you are during your 'cycle' (hiving cycle).
