Guest guest
Not prescription antihistamine. I used OTC Claritin by mouth, and Childrens dye, alcohol and sugar free liquid as a topical until I was sure that I really was benefitting from this. Then I got my doc to compound topical bendryl in a vitamin e base. I used this for several months while I embarked on the voyage of allergen avoidance! My personal care products had done a number on me, not just my vulvar skin but my upper arms, face, chest and neck. My head was sore all the time and had tiny little scabs from where I'd scratch - yet no dandruff! Duh - you'd think I'd have realized that something was causing my head to itch - like the products I was applying right to it for my hair!? I'm not sorry I investigated the allergy route - it proved very important for me - and was major contributory cause of my vulvar problems. Guest guest
How do you know they were " doing a number " . Sorry, this is a bit confusing to me. I have been taking claritin often forget to take it and I don't notice a difference. Perhaps I should keep a log. I take so many supplements I can't keep track so I'll have to add another to the list. Guest guest
sorry, should have explained more. Basically my doctor " tests " each product to see if they " weaken " me. I know that not everyone will believe in this method but I'm seeing great results. The doctor has me lie down on a table and put both arma straight up in the air. Then he pushes down on each arm (to get an idea of my strength/resistance) while I resist and keep my arms up. Then he places one of my products (I bring more and more every week, from underwear to food, basically anything I put on or in my body.)on my stomach and pushes on my arms again. If the product " weakens " me (ie: is bad and is causing some kind of harm) I will not be able to keep my arms up like before. Again, I now some will be skeptical, but the more products etc that I eliminate from my daily life, the better I feel. Before I started seeing this doctor, the skin all around my vagina and inner thighs was red, raw and sometimes swollen. The skin was actually cracking and splitting in some areas. I had a lot of burning and itching that was literally driving me up the wall. Over the past few weeks almost all of the redness is gone (and returned to a healthy pink colour) the cracking and splitting stopped the itching has stopped and I only get a mild to moderate burning sensation if I apply direct pressure to my vulva. I'm hoping I will eventually eliminate this as well. Hope this helps! --- dljcsp wrote: > How do you know they were " doing a number " . Guest guest
So far I've just gone without most days, but I'm still searching for one that tests well. For me, I think alcohol is one of the biggest problems - I don't know this for sure but it's been one of the main ingredients in almost all of the products that tested poorly. - --- Lindsey wrote: > Do you use a different contact lens solution, or > just go without? > > > > > > > Not prescription antihistamine. Guest guest
- preservatives (or biocides-like low grade antibiotics) are one the main common denominators in the things you mention. These products all contain preservatives/biocides because we dip our fingers in them to use them and they would become highly germ laden if the preservatives/biocides weren't there. I'd rather buy pure 100% olive oil soap and run the risk of it going bad than buy a bar of soap.. Its 100% pure and its free perfumes - another high risk application. Ever look at whats in your bar soap? Ingredients are on the back. Guest guest
Thanks for the info Dusty - I had a feeling my issues with the products might have to do with preservatives, etc. My Dove soap that I use on my face and body is fine, it never bothers me. But I'm going to be staying far far away from all the facial cleansers, body washes that I was using! - --- Dusty wrote: > - preservatives (or biocides-like low grade > antibiotics) are one the > main common denominators in the things you mention. > These products all > contain preservatives/biocides because we dip our > fingers in them to use > them and they would become highly germ laden if the > preservatives/biocides > weren't there.
