Guest guest
ok, ok, now I'm nervous! Can someone please tell me what to do if my child has a slip up and has a " Seizure " ? A mom in need of a social script here. Do I do something at home? Do I call 911? Am I able to drive him? Never have experienced seeing this type of thing happen. I don't know what a seizure looks like either. I know I don't want to, but I want to be safe. Also this little " social script " would be helpful to have on hand for husband and anyone else who might be incharge of my boys. I'm glad this conversation has come up a lot lately because I have a new friend whose son is having seizures and she has been steered into the gfcf diet direction. I've been sending her your emails. I told her my gut tells me that her son will be talking soon. (he is 5) Thank you for your sharing! hugs, Joyce
Guest guest
he had a bunch one day then a bit the next and gradually got more hyper as the second day went on. then about 7:30pm he just dropped into a grand mal. So it was less than 48 hours for him. The first day he had maybe 4 pieces of bread, the second he had 2 pieces and some milk. that was all it took. I figured the hyperactivity was due to cabin fever cause they were on a school break and they were chasing each other around the house, but when my daughter got tired, Max was still running. It was not a good time. Just be careful. The ER is not a good way to spend the holidays. Guest guest
He was only on the diet less than 1 month. Max was the first child to have pre- and post-secretin peptide tests done. I sent them blind to Shattock in England and the results that came back were nothing short of amazing, and completely unexpected. So we decided that in order to duplicate the testing, he would have to be back on G & C for his next infusion, so I handed him some bread. Like any person, if you take an overdose of something your body thinks is an opioid, like heroin, your body will react, sometimes very harshly. The digestive aids like EnzymeAid and SerenAid did not exist then. Holly ----- Original Message ----- > That is so scary. I wonder, why is the reason it causes seizures? Guest guest
What I think is weird is that the reaction my child had with an oreo was nothing like if he was just eating them everyday PRE DIET. If he ate it along with the casein and gluten we never noticed cause he was always out there. Staring. Looking through you and not seeing you. When he had a slip up after that oreo it was like a overdose. weird. Keep us abreast of what happens to gluten and casein introduction. kelly << hat is so scary. I wonder, why is the reason it causes seizures? Does it throw > there little systems into termoil? Or is it because if you haven't had something > in a while, your body learns to reject it? Guest guest
Your friend or you are welcome to email be privately about seizures. (dsmall@...) Our youngest had some many seizures a day that we quit counting the little ones. She didn't respond to medications, so we ended up on the ketogenic diet. I'll be glad to talk to anyone who wants to know more about our experiences. Cari in KY
Guest guest
I think the 5 minute mark is an arbitrary figure. With us, if the seizure was longer than 2 minutes we were headed out the door. I also think the brain damage after 5 minutes is bunk. It is my opinion that the seizures and adult doses of medication are why I am now privileged to know you all. My DD had no autistic symptoms before the seizures started. Cari in KY PS I agree wholeheartedly that seizures are no fun!!
