I’m 48 – 47 when diagnosed. I received 4 treatments of a/c…the onc wanted

me (after the 3rd) to take two more or 4 of Taxol, but I declined. I felt I

had the option because my lymph nodes were negative and I received an

excellent path report after the mastectomy…my onc was agreeable. I had a

hard time with the a/c, but not as hard as some people. It got worse with

each one. I didn’t get over the nausea from the last one for 6 weeks. No

radiation, but I’m on hormone therapy (Arimidex) for 5 years.

60 diagnosed in January, Stage 2, mastectomy in March node negative.

Declined A/C chemo and am currently on Arimidex. Her 2 status

recently established as positive. Second opinion A/C chemo followed

by Herceptin and Aromatase inhibitor. Will not do the A/C chemo as it

is only 4% affective in estrogen positive BC. Also have congestive

heart failure in the family which can be an issue with both A/C and

Herceptin The onc will not allow herceptin without A/C. Am seriously

considering no further treatment as I am node negative and the

Arimidex is adversly affecting my quality of life in quite an

intollerable way. After a lot of research figure the odds would still

be in my favor.

HI,

I'm 40 yrs old, and I've had 3 of 4 a/c chemo

treatments. And they made me feel pretty tired and

very very very constipated.

Hi Siggy,

I was 55 when I had masectomy, chemo and radiation in that order all within 9

months. Now I'm on Arimidex 2nd year. Still tire easily. Glad I'm in good hands.

God bless you.

I was 33- 6 rounds of ac (1994) reoccurrence in 1996 - 56 rounds of rads -

another reoccurrence in 2001, 6 months of taxatere and herceptin, then 4

months of gemzar. Then was put on arimidex and was on that for 2 and half

yrs. Another bout came along in 2005. I was put on gemzar and something else

I can't remember right now for 6 months then 6 week break put back on gemzar

for 2 months taken off because of side effects. Put on xeloda pills, 2500mg

x14 days, 7 days off and repeat. That is what I am currently on now. I am 45

yrs old now. I have survived this and divorce. I have remarried my soul mate

who I met over the Internet. I am living life to its fullest as best I can.

Was 51 at the time I had mammogram and found out I had breast cancer. and was

working at the time.....Had mast. operation on Memorial Day Week-end 2002 and

then my mom passed away suddenly in Sept 2002...went on without her support and

finished Chemo on Veterans Day 2003 and Radiation on Valentines Day 2003...all

holidays...Started Tamoxifin in December 2002 and then switched to Arimidex in

October 2003...Found my boyfriend on the interned in July 2002 and he came to

Delaware from North Carolina December 2002...I was working at the time and it

was hard because I took a week off from work when I had chemo...Lucky the new

Cancer Center was just up the street from where I worked and it was easy to on

lunch hour for my radiation. In Sept 2004 I retired after 32 yrs 7 months at

the same job and then moved to North Carolina in December 2004...so boyfriend

could be close to his dad...he grew up in North Carolina...It was hard for me

because I lived in Delaware all my life....In

March of this year boyfriends dad passed away health problems and we both miss

going to his house to visit him... Life does go on and I am a 4 year

survivor...Just found out that a friend of mine from Delaware just lost a

daughter last week from Cancer and she was around the same age as me. she just

turned 55 and I turned 55 last December....My aunt lost a daughter to cancer

last October...and she has gone on with her life...They are now both with the

Lord...

Hi Siggy -

I was 46 at diagnosis; had bilateral mastectomies 6/3/04 with 23 lymphs

removed (6 positive); dose-dense A/C every other week for (4); Taxol every other

week for (4); 33 radiation treatments; Tamoxifen since 1/05, which I will be

switching to Arimidex or Femara as I've started Lupron injections to shut down

my ovaries two months ago. I also have weekly Herceptin infusions since

January '06 until January '07. Whew!!

And you know what Siggy? I'm still here!! = )

XOXO

cook besides it is something I love to do. It helps

I have had bc twice. The first time I was 33. Had lumpectomy, axillary gland

removed and nodes came back pos. Did chemo with internal radiation, and external

rad. Lost every stitch of hair on my body. The second time I was 47. Went ahead

and had bilateral mastectomy w/reconstruction. No radiation, just Aromisin for

the next couple or few years. No positive nodes this time. Caught it early. No

family history of BC. I am the first. Doing some physical therapy to keep

everything moving good.

I was still pretty young the first time w/bc. I had just had a baby had a

teenager. and kept working full time when I wasn't off a day here or there for

chemo. My first rounds of chemo put me in the hospital. After that I just went

to the onc. office. I did feel bad after every treatment. I think I had a

treatment every three weeks I can't remember now. I seemed to bounce back pretty

good then.

This time around I haven't bounced back as well. The procedure I chose for

reconstruction has really taken a toll on me. Four surgeries in the last year

and a half have been tough. I still have two teenagers at home. I chose to take

time off from work this time around. Do a little physical therapy. Fortunately,

I have been blessed. I have wonderful support at home. Everything is getting

better everyday though. Theresa T.
