All ferrous is iron, but all iron is not ferrous. So there are other types

of iron, but anything that starts with ferrous is a type of iron.

HI guys.. It has been what seems like forever since I have been able

to post.. but this one on iron has me curious. In one of the post

someone said that all iron is Ferrous.. something or other..

according to my pharmacist that isn't true.. I am on Carbonyl Iron..

much much easier on the stomach according to her. My labs were way

off in Hemoglobin and Hemocrit, not to mention some of the others..I

have to get back to what is important, my water and hydration before

I pass out anymore than I have been.. anyway, I just wanted to let

you know what my pharmacist said about iron and see if anyone else

has heard of Carbonyl..

best wishes for a great holiday!

We've had great luck with carbonyl iron! Indeed. Actually, it was that

ferrous indicates iron, but doesn't indicate the form. It takes two words

to describe the complex. Ferrous means iron, but not all iron is called

ferrous. Yep.

Can anyone tell me what to take for iron. I can't seem to find any that doesn't

have fillers, sugars or Lactose in them. What does everyone else do that is low

in iron?

You should indicate your condition and how long you've been on the

diet in order to get answers to your questions. Your body hoards iron

when you have IBD so it's no surprise that your blood iron levels are

low. As your condition improves your blood values are likely to

improve as well. Iron supplements feed the bad bacteria so you want

to avoid them.
