Guest guest
I can tell you what MY body does from actions & reactions. When I am taking T4 only I have a heart murmur, on Armour I do not. On T4 only my TSH drops so apparently in spite of low T3 there are messages to the thyroid to stop production. That is interesting.....and something I have forgotten about. The pituitary gland can respond to your T4 and almost totally ignore whether you have the needed T3. Dumb pituitary gland. On T4 only my TSH drops > > Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV _______________ It is well known in the literature that T4 is more suppressive of TSH than T3. If you assigned an energy value to T4 and T3, you would find that the person on T4 would be getting less energy, while suppressing his TSH below 1.0 than a person on T3 who suppressed TSH to the same level. What's amazing to me is that doctors are so stupid as to still want people to have normal TSH on Synthroid even though the evidence is that it takes much more Synthroid to get the same energy production of a little Armour. The older texts from the 1970's said that TSH needed to be totally supressed with Synthroid before patients became euthyroid. They found that average doses of 300 to 400mcg of Synthroid was needed before people felt good. It took much less Armour to achieve the same goal and TSH would not be totally suppressed. Excellent comment and it brings up the point that suppressing the TSH with T4-only meds is far different than suppressing the TSH with Armour...also as you wisely stated. At least with Armour, we get the direct T3, besides the benefit of the T2, T1 and calcitonin. Doctors are cows---if the pharmaceuticals leads with T4 meds, the cows follow, one by one. Guest guest
> Actually I am striving for a 0 TSH!!! Earlier this year, I was on 2 1/4 grains. Had fantastic energy and stamina, but felt like I still had some other lingering symptoms. So I decided to inch towards 3 grains...1/4 grain at a time. I had always dosed by labwork, which I see as helpful when you are first starting out on Armour, but decided to dose totally by symptoms. When I got to 3 grains and held it, I felt fantastic. And then....out of curiousity....I did labs. My TSH was .009. No hyper. Just symptoms of feeling great!! This is where I became a believer of dosing by symptoms.
