Guest guest
First of all, I am definitely NOT pregnant, but have a 3x3x3 fibroid high up in my utereus. I am a week late for my period, and have had terrible cramping since the middle of my cycle, with spotting about that time. I feel like I am on permanent PMS, and am also having the strangest sensations when I am laying in bed, like the first flutters you feel when you are pregnant! I've had two kids, so I know the feeling. Anyone else out there get these sensations from their fibroids? If I had the morning sickness and sore boobs, I'd swear I was pregnant, regardless of my negative pregnancy tests. I called the nurse at my OB/GYN office, who instructed me to take the pg test. When I told her it was neg, she said that unless the cramping gets worse than it does when I have my periods (what could be worse than THAT, except childbirth???), not to worry about it, and to take Motrin. Please. Anyway, any insight into this? The doctor's office is scheduling an abdominal myo to remove the fibroid, as I want to get pregnant again, but I also have a second opinion the week after next with a RE, as it was suggested by many of the women on this board. Thanks! Kim
Guest guest
I found out about 9 years ago that I had a fibroid(I dont know how many I have now)and I have since had 2 miscarriages, and 2 pregnancies. For the last couple of years,I get the feelings you discribe.I thought I was going crazy.I would feel little flutters, and know I was definitely not pregnant. My doctor tried to tell me it was gas in my lower intestines.I think,at 39,I know what that feels like, and this was definitely not gas.She told me she had never heard of fibroids causing that type of sensation before,so didn't think that was it.I trust my instincts though, and they tell me that the fibroids are the cause of this strange " phantom baby syndrome " . kim_k_2001 wrote: > I feel like I am on permanent PMS, and am also having >the strangest sensations when I am laying in bed, like the first >flutters you feel when you are pregnant! Guest guest
sorry for interrupting but I would wake up as well feeling those sensations. I came to believe it was the feeling of blood nourishing the fibroid. gg sheryl johnson wrote: > I found out about 9 years ago that I had a fibroid(I dont know how many I have now)and I have since had 2 miscarriages, and 2 pregnancies. For the last couple of years,I get the feelings you discribe.I thought I was going crazy.I would feel little flutters, and know I was definitely not pregnant. My doctor tried to tell me it was gas in my lower intestines.I think,at 39,I know what that feels like, and this was definitely not gas.She told me she had never heard of fibroids causing that type of sensation before,so didn't think that was it.I trust my instincts though, and they tell me that the fibroids are the cause of this strange " phantom baby syndrome " . > > kim_k_2001 wrote: > > I feel like I am on permanent PMS, and am also having > >the strangest sensations when I am laying in bed, like the first > >flutters you feel when you are pregnant! Guest guest
I have had the same feelings and asked my doctor at the time and he gave me the same answer. I've had it for years and still do. I know I'm not pregnant because I've had two different kinds of tubiligations. I ignored my doctor and those fluter feelings for me is the fibroids. I don't bother dicussing the fluters with my doctor for they are just apart of every day life for me. Wish I could be of more help.
Guest guest
Yuck! That is creepy, but makes sense to me. Let's face it, some people are more sensitive than others. If we can feel gas taking up space, why wouldn't some of us feel our fibroids expanding and/or contracting? I mean, not to be crass, but who can't tell when they're constipated???? Some doctors are just so in their heads or so by the book that they don't know how to work with supersensitive patients. I know because I'm one and the difference between working with a doc who thinks it helps and a doc who thinks I am nuts is like day and night. Just as an example of supersensitivity, I had to have my bite adjusted and my dentist said he had never worked with anyone who could feel such fine differences in her mouth. He loved it, took it as a challenge and we really worked together. So, I say to all fellow supersensitives, you are not alone! It's a gift if you can make it work for you. Guest guest
Thanks for all of the responses. I am glad to know that I am not crazy! I did end up getting my period yesterday (over a week late), and boy am I paying for that. Can't even sit in this chair for long as I am in so much pain right now. Will have the ab myo on Tuesday, so hopefully all will go well, and the next phantom baby pain that I feel will be REAL!!! I want to get pregnant again, and will wait four months after the myo. Thanks again! Kim > I have had the same feelings and asked my doctor at the time and he gave me the same answer. I've had it for years and still do.
